Cu Na Mara Restaurant
We went over to Bristol, Newfound Lake area this weekend and had an excellent lunch at CuNaMara Irish restaurant. We intended on having a light lunch, but were tempted by too many things on the menu. An appetizer of Steak on a Stick was herb barbecue marinated, tender, and delicious, and was accompanied by onion rings. A plate of freshly battered button mushrooms with a home made dipping sauce was to die for. We also had the fish and chips -excellent, as was a large fresh salad with grilled chicken and home made whiskey dressing. The chef/owner actually came out, introduced himself - Ray Gardiner runs it with his wife MaryAnn(nice Irish accent). He gave us some details on his training and background. Very informative, friendly and knowledgable. We will definitely go back and sample the dinner menu and his specials. The home made deserts looked great, but we were too stuffed to try them. They have a website. Check it out. It was worth the trip.

Cu Na Mara Restaurant
Thank you Valhala for recommending Cu Na Mara Restaurant. Just came back from having lunch there and found it just as you described it. Ray Gardiner came by and we had a delightful conversation. He personally greeted almost everyone that came in. The Shepherds Pie was great, my wife had a tortelini ? type dish which was also very good. But the best of the lunch was the bread pudding - - it was oustanding. quite large so one can share it if you are full from the regular meal.
We will defintely be going back, worth the 21 mile drive there. |
