The weather prognosticators say we're in for a heck of a day, tomorrow. Weather Underground app says 12+ inches here in Moultonborough, with 30 mph winds.

Charge up the battery in your camera, tonight, while the power is still on, so proper documentation can be had, tomorrow.

This is probably one of the worst storms since I've been here, (9yrs). Usually in moultonborough we get the shadow but, I think this storm is loaded soo much moisture that it doesn't matter. I don't think it snows much harder than this. Additionally, I do not have an anemometer but, I'm pretty sure its been consistently gusting 40-50 for the last several hours.

Just 90 miles north of Ft Myers in Sarasota the forecast temp is in the 30's tonight and lower tomorrow night. The heat will be on in the motor home for sure. But recovers in the 60's by Noon.

That is one of the reasons that I went further south. The low tonight in Ft. Myers is supposed to be about 55. I will take that any day over a blizzard, cold temperatures, and no electricity. I just spoke to someone who told me the electricity is out in the Weirs now.

I always wondered how you measure when the winds are intense like this and get an accurate reading.

Stay away from Moultonborough rte 109 from 25 to who knows where. I left early this morning, it was really bad. Multiple trees and wires down. Telephone poles snapped. I'm pretty sure from Suissevale down to Melvin wasn't plowed. Suissevale was no picnic either. Trees wires down and some really deep drifts. Many roads not plowed, as they cannot be reached. If you don't have a 4X4 don't bother.

I just pick the flattest spot on my front lawn where snow has not drifted and use a yardstick. Nothing scientific that's for sure.

The Weirs to Gilford area was restored at 2:46 AM. Eversource said it was tree limbs on the wires.

Yeah, same here on Marco Island. It's widespread panic! I've seen more ski jackets, gloves and hats today than I used to see at Gunstock. It's only 61 degrees right now - oh the horror!!

I will just assume some of you snowbirds are a little older than some of us full time residents. If I could snowbird at 38 years old I certainly would.

Here in M'boro, power is out. Three trees down across road and wires so no access. Power pole broken and transformer smashed. Hope we have power in the next few days. Would rather be skiing than feeding the wood stove to stay warm.

Oh no, going to be a while. From Melvin village out to 25, there are entire areas that have had blow downs. The power the runs by the moultonborough sub station is all on the ground. Just a sea of trees down

How tough do you have to be to work all night durring a raging blizzard on ladder trucks and dealing with live wires down everywhere? The power company guys and girls deserve our greatest respect and thanks.

Well then, that is the answer! I can't even fathom some careless person measuring at only one spot and being off by an inch. I wish I had thought of it first! That changes everything! Oh, the horror!

Not minimizing what the tree folks and electrical workers do, but NHEC, in speaking about what seemed like a delay in working to get the power back on, pulled their crews in because of crew safety. It was unsafe for the crews to be in the bucket trucks, in near zero visibility, high winds, and snow falling in excess of 2-3 inches per hour. The crews were back out at dawn this morning.
Not a job I would want to do. A big 👍and 👏 to all who had to get out in those conditions. Thanks for what you do.

Still out on Sawyer Point Rd. (20 mile bay). One crew out on 109 just South of here about an hour ago.....but they left with wires still in the road. I think it's going to be a while!

It's 7:30 AM Thursday, and our home at the end of Moultonboro Neck is still out. We picked this week for a short trip to FL, and are still down there. I'm pretty sure we'll be facing frozen pipes and rotten food when we get back this weekend.

Our house on Long Island only got down to 38 by the time the power came back on last night at 7:40pm. No worries for rotten food, it was def too cold for that. Your pipes may be good too...I think your home would need multiple days of below freezing to cause an issue but I am no expert.

Here in Wolfeboro, we officially got 15". The winds were amazing - kept our roof clear of snow, but the drifts got about five feet up one side of the house.

We didn't lose power, only internet - which just came back on around 10:00 this morning.

Nurse friend in Sandwich says they're not expecting power to be back until some time next week.

After 70 hours without power, it is back. Less than three full days off the power grid, and the thoughts what would be needed for weeks or months without power really became clear. The value of planning was too!

In our case, three large trees blocked the road out. Keith, the neighborhood lumberjack had us out by noon, the day after the storm. Up the road, a pole came down, smashing the transformer. It was interesting to see the guts inside. Two days after the storm, the pole driller came by and planted a new pole. The transformer arrived on Friday, and by Friday afternoon, power was restored. We're still driving over the cable and telephone lines. No worse for wear - Spectrum/TWC Internet is working just fine.

It was an experience to tell stories about for years. The wind howled for more than four hours and the gusts were at ludicrous speed.

The best part was how the neighborhood came together. Everyone was checking on each other and doing what had to be done. We got through it.

Less than three full days off the power grid, and the thoughts what would be needed for weeks or months without power really became clear. The value of planning was too! In our case, three large trees blocked the road out. Keith, the neighborhood lumberjack had us out by noon, the day after the storm. Up the road, a pole came down, smashing the transformer. It was interesting to see the guts inside. Two days after the storm, the pole driller came by and planted a new pole. The transformer arrived on Friday, and by Friday afternoon, power was restored. We're still driving over the cable and telephone lines. No worse for wear - Spectrum/TWC Internet is working just fine. It was an experience to tell stories about for years. The wind howled for more than four hours and the gusts were at ludicrous speed. The best part was how the neighborhood came together. Everyone was checking on each other and doing what had to be done. We got through it. __________________ -lg

I'm leaving Burbank this Sunday and plan to bring along some of the warmth we have been having here. Temp today 85 degrees. I am a retired workaholic and continuing aquaholic.
