Roberts Cove

I'm new to the lake area and looking at different areas to rent a house. How strong is the current in the Roberts Cove area (specifically the cedar cove section)? Is it usually calm or does the chop from the broads make its way in?

I am no expert in that area but we did look at a few homes in Roberts Cove and Cedar Cove. We looked in the Cedar Cove community and it was separate small cove right off of Roberts Cove and was pretty quiet in there. If you want to be out of the wind/current for kids or whatever that would be the way to go. As you went out of that small cove into Roberts Cove the winds definitely picked up and the water was pretty choppy (or at least when we were looking) when you got out of Roberts Cove. As I recall most of the homes in the Clay Point community we looked at either had breakwater docks and/or docks with boat lifts which tells me it's usually pretty choppy down there. Very nice area though. Beautiful homes.

J9lake, welcome to the forum.
We will go down into Robert's Cove to anchor on occasion. There is a nesting pair of loons who use a floating nest on the south side of Plum Island. If the pair are successful, it is enjoyable to anchor between the island and the entrance into the Robert's Cove Marina area and watch them.
With a west or northwest area, the Cove can get choppy. There is a Cove opposite Plum Island that overall is a mooring field and it is pretty well sheltered. Don't know if that is Cedar Cove.
Robert's Cove is also a popular place for water skiers and wakeboarders, and they can throw up quite a wake, especially if they come down one side of the island, make a turn, and go back up the other side. It can be quite the ride if anchored where the wakes meet.
It is pretty good fishing, but the rock bass are becoming more prevalent, not a good thing.
