Default Donation Challenge

This morning I made a $25.00 donation to this site through Paypal (see the thread below under site support forum section for directions to do this). I often thought about sending a small donation to the site my never got around to it. I have no relationship to the site, but thought it would be a good thing to do especially after the Wolfeboro site was put out of commission. Web sites take a lot of time and effort to maintain and this site is of excellent quality. So who is going to step-up and match my contribution?

Default ...my two bits!

I'm in with my twenty five cents. It's definately better to give than to receive, and it sure felt good. After all, it's the thought that counts........ouch!

I think Skip started the challenge first and should receive some credit. Happy to see that you stepped-up to his challenge to support this website.

The important point is that your heart and wallet are in the right place.

Okay, everybody who "loves" to post, good or bad, is your heart in your wallet?

P.S.- The moths ate my wallet, so I'll have to panhandle for some pennies, nickels, and dimes. May take awhile; but I'm a bandwidth hog, too.

Default I'm In.

My oldest daughter mentioned this website to me several years ago and I've been hooked ever since. Rarely a day goes by when I'm not here browsing. Thanks to our webmaster and to all who contribute to the best web site in the universe.

Hopefully, it will be a smooth glass of scotch which will be chased by a frosty Heiniken. By the way, per GWC's post above, I agree that you were the member who inspired my web-athon. Thanks for the idea.

I seem to recall a fair amount of controversy over at WOL regarding people donating money, then later finding out that a privtate entity actually owned the site in the first place.

The donations were specifically for the cameras, I believe. The controversy surrounded the issue of certain forums and/or comments being deleted because they were not supportive of a venture run by the site owners.

Just FYI.

There shouldn't be any controversy over here reference donations. Don has made it abundantly clear that this is a private website and we visit here as his guests.

If you visit the link provided for donations, you will find that Don encourages you to first purchase from and link through his advertisers so that the site can gain direct benefit from those entities. As for the cash donations currently being made, Don has unashamedly said he'd be happy to recieve as little as a buck if that's all you can spare. And again, cash donations are not what he appears to be looking for (in my opinion) but rather that you visit and purchase through the kind businesses that advertise here.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, let me reiterate that Don did not in any way solicit this impromptu drive, I had to prod him to supply the link necessary in the first place, and Secondcurve graciously and on his own accord stepped up to the plate and offered to start the successful "challenge" thread.

And the generosity of the good folks here, that could, will help in sustaining this private site.

I look at it this way....if I, as a guest, frequent someone's hospitality as I have Don's over the last few years....its only right that I bring a gift (on occassion) to the host. Simple as that.

Finally, I am glad that Don reminded us all of the benefits the site receives by purchasing from and linking to his advertisers. Money is tight for many of us and not all are in a position to donate cash. But if each of us checked with the site's advertisers regularly and made a purchase now & then through same, the benefit to Winnipesaukee.com is the same and virtually painless!

Anyway, thanks to all that stepped up to the plate where they could....and I hope Don & his family are having a great vacation!

Oh, almost forgot....here is the link Donate to Winnipesaukee.com one more time, for those of you that may have missed it....

Default donation challenge

I post seldom but read every day. My thanks to all who maintain this site, and the many who entertain me daily. I've learned a ton of great stuff about the lake, and the people on it. It was from this vast knowledge, that i recently purchased a mobile home near the lake and a new pontoon boat to go with it. I spent lots of time last summer learning the lake and floating around Timber Is. It is my pleasure to donate.

......how about a snow(mobile) less winter? But then again, that gives me more time to stay inside by the fire and have a few more.......?

....while participating in some of these "crazy" schemes!

Now, the real question is, what are you doing with all your extra time???

Since I'm a New Hampshire cheapskate, I bought the Bruce Heald book from the Winnipesaukee Store. Now I'm going to look at a Winnipesaukee.com sweatshirt, or two.
