I have searched some of the old threads on Stonedam Island with regards to the trails, ownership, etc. I've got a map of trails and intend to respect the area and private property.
As a boater and a trail runner, I am interested in hiking the trails on Stonedam, Rattlesnake and Bear (understand Bear is private, but I've got an invite from owner). Anyways, with regard to getting into the dock area at Stonedam, it appears that it is rocky right outside the Sallys Gut area. Can anybody assist with the safest way in to the docks? 21 foot bow rider Thanks |

Was there last week. The dock is in great shape this year. As long as you head straight in from the main channel (before you start the turn towards Sally's Gut) the water is deep up to the dock. No drinking water on the island so bring your own.
Good luck. Great trails. |

Is the dock on the east or west side of the island?

WICKED buggy. As is every place that doesn't have a prevalent wind. But NOT at Windy Point on LI!

I know the family would appreciate it. The anchor raftings have ruined this tranquil place for therm.

I think that respecting private property is important and the right thing to do. I do not however have any sympathy for waterfront property owners that think that anchor raftings ruin the area for them. Covered here before the lake is a public recreation area.
