We have a couple of gulls that have taken a liking to our swim dock. Within just a couple of days, they did some impressive damage! I have done some preliminary research on bird "deterrents" available, from spiders to whirlybirds to birds of prey statues. The spiders work great on boats and docks, but it would be a real pain to set and remove an 8 foot product whenever you wanted to use a swim platform. Any feedback or experiences with bird deterrents for a swim platform would be much appreciated.

I use these rubber snakes, which work pretty well:

Those rubber snakes were magic! Thanks again for the suggestion. We had a pile of fish bones every morning before the snakes and nothing since. ![]() |

The snakes worked for me too--thanks!
Also important--I had previously used a plastic owl. That worked, but it also scared the loons away from our cove. One great thing about the snakes is that they are visible to the gulls in the sky, but not the loons on the water. |
