La Boca Restaurant in Wolfeboro
La Boca Restaurant, which opened during the summer, is a tru gem owned and run by the same husband & wife team who have made the La Boca Bakery such a success. Steve is the chef, Liz handles the dining room.
The restaurant is small, charming, and has a limited, very creative menu which changes frequently but a few things appear regularly (one of their homemade breads is always included with the meal). The food and service have been awesome on our visits and we've heard nothing but rave reviews from many friends who have been there. Our tough-sell NYC son was bowled over by a server who apologized at the beginning and again at the end of our dinner for the wait before we were attended to one night -- the "wait" was 2-3 minutes! They're open for dinner 5-9:00pm, Wednesday-Saturday in the off-season but I think will be closed for a month or two during the winter. Best to call and check before going; you can also find out what's on the menu and, with some advance notice, they can accommodate dietary restrictions. Desserts are whatever Liz feels like baking and somewhat dependent on available seasonal ingredients. When we expressed surprised the first time we went that dessert wasn't anything that they sold downstairs, which would be the easy thing to do for a restaurant that has a take-out bakery, Liz said she wanted the opportunity to make something that doesn't need to be boxed -- the work ethic of this couple is amazing. La Boca is at 50 N. Main Street, in the upstairs part of what had been Strawberry Patch and then Wolfe's Den (the bakery is downstairs). Note: Not suitable for handicapped. https://www.labocallc.com/ https://www.facebook.com/LaBocaLLC/?ref=page_internal |

Reasonable wine selection for a place this size, excellent cocktail selections - I recommend the Parisian Sidecar if you're into that stuff. I had the lobster risotto, which was terrific. A short walk from the docks. If you've never been, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. |
