The short answer is that white nose disease has devastated the bat population in NH. I believe it started in 2006. Certain NH bat species may take many decades to return.
I am on Long Island and have seen no bats for 5 years when they used to be plentiful. I know you if you wanted to Google you wouldn’t have asked the Forum but it is a sad complicated story. I am sure others can give you more detail. Wish I could “lighten it up.”
