I wouldn’t worry about a thing. The weathermen can’t even get tomorrow right never mind next week! The lake has its own weather pattern anyway, never believe what the forecasters say. It’s always sunny at the lake!!

Just remember, it's not 100% rain. And if there is no lightening and it's warm, go swimming, rain or shine. You're gong to get wet anyway.

Agree with Dan. Weathermen seem to be wrong more than right. That said, the fish don't mind the rain. Wet a line....

Yup, just being goofy. As for weather, it depends where you are. In the last five years we've had a camp, there have been, easily, two dozen days when foul weather forecasts turned into beautiful days (with crowds leaving early because of the forecast!). Thus, we've learned to ALWAYS assume the best: I call it The Arcadia Effect. The attached radar image is a good example--we were in Moultonborough Bay, alone because everybody left when hearing the thunder!

I commented to some friends in California that my weather monitoring app from Yahoo weather, forecasting weather in Meredith (don't know from where the data originates), quite often has a little cloud icon with three rain drops coming from it and the forecast reads "Sunny...Chance of rain 0%". In other forecasts, it shows a sun icon, no clouds, then when it starts raining, the forecast on the app changes.

In summer in San Francisco, you will notice the meteorologist could wear the same clothes every day and say the same words, every day. They could record the forecast once at the beginning of the season and re-broadcast the same recording for every news cycle for the remainder of the season....Summer?...Fog and calm winds in the morning, burning off by noon with winds and fog picking back up by 4:00 pm...

Making wedding plans in California requires no backup "rain" plan.

Just a bit of an aside story...I had an office in Lafayette, CA...24 miles east of San Fran. One very hot summer day, the official temp. in Lafayette was 117. I drove home to SF, 24 miles, the official temp. there was 55. Same altitude. Where else can there be such a variation in temp., travelling only 24 miles? If you've been to SF, you may have noticed that Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 have more sweatshirt shops than any place on earth. SF is not your stereotypical California surfer's paradise...it's cold in the summah! The physics as to why is quite interesting...

I do miss the thunder and lightening storms, more common in The Lakes Region, but when we get one in SF, it's like nothing seen around here. There can be a thousand bolts in the sky at once, travelling in all directions. Only seen two in 40 years.

But, again, my caffeine is causing rambling!

Lake weather always depends on where you are on the lake. A good example was last sunday a nice quick thunderstorm came through the area and the northwest portion of the lake got hit and I was having lunch in Wolfeboro and didn't see a drop of rain. These are 1000's of similar stories.

Enjoy your time at the lake and just roll with the punches as far as weather is concerned.

Standing on our dock at our location on East Bear Island, we often see storms passing across the north or south ends of the lake, while dry here. We have seen rainbows touching Six Mile Island and arching south to Camp Island. 🌈

And when it's calm and overcast. The raging sun, like today, can get intense. It's the wind AND rain that's a bummer.

Rain typically doesn't last for long. Plan trips to spots where you can stay inside during the rain, and back out on the Lake after it stops, heading to another spot.

I know there are apps available to give you very current weather updates. I know this has been addressed in the past, but maybe someone can advise on a good, free, weather app for boating on The Lake.

Weather girl? Really? Don't know who you watched, but most on-air people forecasting the weather are meteorologists.

As for forecasting in a convective environment, one really needs to rely on nowcasting.

Sitting home at night and trying to make plans for TOMORROW we kinda have to rely on local weathermen/ladies forecasts and sometimes all signs point to rain and when the following day comes its quite different, as in partly cloudy with no rain in sight...and yes I still and always will call them......

No matter what the forecast I will be there tomorrow night. If it rains it's a work weekend, if it's nice it's a boating weekend.
