I've found that a strong headwind or tailwind can make a big difference--in mileage and top speed.

And a strong cross-wing blows me all over the place...On a two lane road with BIG big rigs coming at you at 70 mph, and I'm going 90, the wind blast is brutal...Actually folded one of my outside mirrors back.

The local news last night had stories of the wind.

Going over mountains eats fuel quickly.
