There is a book called 'Moultonborough as I remember' by Frances Stevens that talks about how her father used to maintain the buoys and lights for the northern half of the lake. This was done with steamboats. While my boys were fishing around the old Lee's Mill landing they found pieces of the old dry cell batteries they used to use. They are somewhere in the camp at Hemlock Point Island near the Loon center.Her nephew Dave Thompson runs the steamboat meet each year
