Looking to have a new house framed

I am looking at a project for this spring/summer - building a new house.

Would like to know of any recommendations for locals who are experienced in this area.

The project is approximately 3000 square feet. The design is a cape.

Want to get this up and tight to the weather, so this would involve:

1) Framing including interior partitions, pop the windows in, etc.
2) Chimneys - heat and wood stove (will probably go with triple insulated stainless)
3) Roofing
4) Siding (am going to use a nice Vinyl that looks like shakes)

Mulling over what to use for heat. There may only be one chimney. Depends. I like heat pumps, but don't like the ever increasing cost of electricity.

Like LP - nice and clean, and very efficient, but LP is expensive.

Which leaves oil. Still thinking about that..but will know soon.

Anyway, any recommendations would be welcome. If you are a contractor and are interested, also please contact me. This is in Tuftonboro.

I had electric heat with a heat pump at my office on Cape Cod. Everyone said it was too cold to be effective. Granted the office was not 3000 square feet but it was extremely efficient. The cost for electric was approximately $50-75/month.
Electric hot water, computers, lights in several rooms going all day plus ancillary appliances.

It might be tough to find somebody now because they are all so busy. Brian Stanley comes to mind because he has a big crew. You could give him a call and maybe if he can't do it, he could give you another suggestion.. Maybe Carrier Const. ? Dwight Pennell might be doing smaller projects now but since you don't want the whole house done, you could try him.

As you said LP is a little expensive but I found much more clean and efficient than oil or electric in the end you will save money with LP

Basically it will be hard to find a decent builder. Most have retired, the young ones are are West building homes for Californians moving out of Cali.

Call Bensonwood out of Walpole, NH craftsmen and NH building products. They also have excellent project managers, even used your plans! That will be an excellent start! Some of your neighbors used Bensonwood https://bensonwood.com/

New condensing boilers and on demand heaters are far more efficient and make looking into gas worth your while. They work well with the mini-split system for year round comfort. I know of one Bensonwood owner in Tuftonboro who did just that, I believe 5,000 sq foot, and is extremely satisfied. Cost less to heat/cool than my 1,500 sick built!

We booked our builder over 2 years ago. When I went looking for bids I find lead times that scared me. Most of the good guys are a couple if not more years out with projects.

That's not to be said you won't find one. Keep calling around. & Best of luck with you project!

That may have been true up until this week but with the bottom falling out of the stock market I envision everything grinding to a halt (or a very serious slow down).

Those with the big bucks will hunker down for a bit until this blows over.

This chaos will not stop or slow the blue collar building trades at all. Even us "small bucks" folks need to follow through with plans...
