From reading posts here and on other sites it appears that a lot of folks don’t seem to understand that they can be infected and contagious and have no symptoms. If they have come in contact with the virus and, because they are not feeling sick, they go out into the general population they risk infecting others. Kind of like sending a kid with a cold to school and getting the whole class sick. To me, that’s just plain irresponsible.

Also why is this different from people coming to the lake because there is no work and school. Be vigilant and do your thing. ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

Today I cleaned the attic. Tomorrow the basement.
Last night we watched a great old Bette Davis, Jimmy Cagney movie "The Bride Came COD" 80 years old and the jokes still work. |

Things just got really interesting here in MA. No gatherings of more than 25 people and no on-site patronizing of restaurants and taverns.

I don't claim to have any idea what the proper response to this is or if the whole thing is being blown out of proportion. I do worry that we are not as concerned as we should be about what this will do to the economy. A month or two of people sitting in their house will mean a severe recession and that will end up costing a lot of lives as well. Business destroyed and life savings lost will result in suicides, stress induced heart attacks, divorces..... Plunging government revenues will mean less money for other needs. (Maybe not as govt will just keep printing more) There are tradeoffs in everything. We lose tens of thousands of people a year in car accidents. We could end all of those deaths with a 10 MPH speed limit. We do not because the trade off has been judged to be not worth it.
If anything good comes from this it will be that in the end maybe people will understand that China is not our friend. Also watching Trump in the last press conference was the first time I have seen him look exhausted. This must be taking quite a toll on him. I hope he gets some rest. He almost looked as out of it as Joe Biden on any day. |

In times like this I think it's important to think about others before yourself. I know that's not a normal practice for some but this is more important now than ever before.
To say **** it, "I'm going to go on living my life as if nothing is wrong" is a pretty selfish response, IMO. This is not a drill, this is real. |

Anyway, as stated above, you are entitled to your opinion. I think this is a massive overreaction. The following was taken from the CDC website concerning influenza in the U.S. -- "CDC estimates that the burden of illness during the 2018–2019 season included an estimated 35.5 million people getting sick with influenza, 16.5 million people going to a health care provider for their illness, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths from influenza (Table 1)." My response is not selfish. It's common sense. And by the way, who are you to judge whether I think of others before myself. I wrote a blank check when I was 19 that thankfully was never cashed. What have you done? |

My grandchildren and I are reading a book together over the phone. "Starting Small and Making It Big" by Bill Cummings who developed millions of sf of office space around Rt. 128. Not usual reading fora 10 and 12 yo, but they know the author so there's some extra interest.

That was not meant as a shot at Trump. I support him and his efforts. Feel bad for everyone working as hard as they can to stop this. He did genuinely look tired and I have never seen that before in him. I want to see him take care of himself as we need him at his best.
I plead guilty to the hit on Dems and will try to take your advice and do better during this time. |
