Vinyl seat repair

Any idea on a generalized cost to repair a tear in a seat? We are looking at a used boat that has tear in a couple seats. Dealer is looking to repair them, but if they don't, trying to guess amount to talk down.

The proper way is to recover the seat. Perhaps $200 to $300 depending on size etc. Call Ashley at Shoreline to get a rough estimate. It could b a lot more if it's a complicated job.

Don't let the dealer do one of those hidden or instant vinyl repair jobs! They will look great for about 1 season. I had a few repairs like these done on my boat, but the repair won't last, over time, unless it's in a spot that is never touched, which is not were tears happen.

The repair spot will also attract dirt faster that the rest of the seat. Some people will place an extra sealer to try to prevent this, but it doesn't last over time.

If I was looking for a cheap way out, get the instant repair, but know it will need to be redone in about 1 year, maybe two if you are lucky.

I have been down this road, and ended up having the seats recovered, and now I'm finally happy.

Thanks for the info. They are pretty ripped up and the dealer is going to recover the cushions.

I just had my rear bench seat repaired over the winter. Required taking the seat apart and repairing the stitching, slightly over $400. Well worth it.

Thanks. The boat is 17 years old. Wondering if they recover seats like they say, how well they will match. I will be happy with a couple years, then look at a complete redo.
