Thumbs up Dog Track (aka The Lodge)

We went to the dog track for dinner tonight. They have three restaurants ranging from a buffet, to pub food to a higher end white table cloth affair. We went to the higher end restaurant and it was very good. They pretty much stick to steak and seafood. My wife had the lobster bisque and it had large pieces of lobster meat. I had a ribeye special that came with a tomato filled with lobster and shrimp. The portions were plentiful and the food was prepared very well. There were only a few people in the place as it seems that most folks opt for the lower end places. The prices were not bad relative to other higher end restaurants here at the lake. We were very positively surprised.

Nice to know! I've been past it a bunch of times but since I don't play the ponies or puppies I've never thought of stopping in for dinner.

I tried the dog track (AKA The Lodge) with a few friends Saturday night. The place is really nice, it's clean and modern inside. The atmosphere is nothing like Rockingham or Wonderland. I sat inside at a table overlooking the track. Each table has a couple of TV's so you can see the action and the betting odds. These tables have waitress service and a pretty good selection of food. I had a Po-Boy (sub sandwich) loaded with shrimp for about $8.00. Other people in the area were eating from the buffet, I saw plates go by with massive slices of prime rib.

If your a heavy gambler, you might find the betting clerks a little slow, but they should get better with time. Only about six windows were opened but they do have computer terminal betting, if you want to sent up an account.

Question The Lodge Restaurants

Just thought I would check, can you wear shorts and jeans to any of the restaurants at the Lodge or are the new places a little fancier?

4 days and counting until we are in NH.

Have only had a chance to eat at Bluesology so far and it was excellent. We were in shorts and tees. They also served the lobster bisque...outstanding!! I had the prime rib and wifey had a fish dish. Other couple with us also had fish and one had the pulled pork dish, both raved about it. We definately plan on returning.
