Depends on location.
During the mid 90s, an ice storm took out some areas for more than a week.
I am on a main line, so I was out about 12 hours.

I use a portable with a quick connect that will power the entire cottage right down to the well pump and the electric stove.

My sister in Gilmanton, off of Rte 140 didn't get power back for nearly two weeks.
