Default The View

The View
8-17-2006

Looking out over the lake
The mountains loom before me
From my island retreat right here
In Lake Winnipesaukee

Where will this journey take me
So many detours of late
Who will come into my life
... and what will be my fate

My camp is so peaceful now
Kids winged their way back home
Clearing out the toys and junk
From room to room I roam

Music blaring just for me
Laptop work for a while
No one to complain about it
No one to cramp my style

Solitude is wonderful
When lonliness doesn't interfere
I am enjoying it today
Having no one here

Soon I will want to resume
Visiting with my friends
It is so important to me
That it always transcends

All the aspects of my life
Giving it more meaning
To the journey I will take
Having those for the leaning

On when it gets too hard for me
Or be there for them too
The joys of life I relish today
As I sit here with my view

Nice poem!

We were on the Lake today with all of those great views!

Someday we hope to have the "view" you are talking about from our porch!

Dear Island Girl:
Very nicely done! I've been alone at my camp most of the week...working on a project in the yard that I have been dreaming about all winter. I, too, relish the time alone with the lake goddess. The solitude is wonderful despite the unrelenting noise of the jet skiiers, a bulldozer working away down the lake somewhere and a hammer gun in the distance. Thanks! McD(PS - Glad to hear you are listening to music!)

Default Excellent

Move over Robert Frost! Excellent poem. Awesome view. Nothing like the lake to bring peace and cure what ails you.

Had the opportunity to be part of "your view" this evening after a nice run over to Wolfeboro for supper. We then headed down to Alton Bay for ice cream, but took "the long way", going down by Middle Shoal then over to Diamond, between Rattlesnake and Sleepers, then down to the bay. Our view was spectacular this evening.

Nice poem, nice thoughts, peaceful times and contentment...Ah now there is the good life.

Talking beautiful night

Last night (Thursday), I took a cruise from West Alton, between Diamond and Rattlesnake Island over to Wolfeboro. The lake was so peaceful and quiet. After dinner in Wolfboro (95 Mill St), We took a cruise down Alton Bay, then a star light cruise back to West Alton. Definitely 'Kodak moment'.

I got lucky enough last night to sneak down to the beach just after sunset without the kids (OK, at least without the 2 legged kids). The sunset over Meredith was amazing, and the lake was very, very still. What a beautiful night.

Default lucky us . . .

Last evening was perfect. DRH and I took the "Escape Pod 1" out for a sundown cruise. We putted along the shore for a while then headed out to Rattlesnake to wave at Snake Eyes. While drifting out in front of Island Girl's place, we called her on the cell phone. We went up and chatted as the light began to fade. We reluctantly made a twilight run for home. It was the perfect evening to be out on the lake!

Default My view too

Hi Island Girl,
Nice poem. I frequently enjoy your view via "Snake eyes" as it looks up toward my place on Cow Island (across from the famous Barber's Pole buoy). Thanks.

I would like to thank you for sharing your view if only on the internet. I can see the lake all the way from Joisey!
