Wanted to try and get an update. I went to the Pure Gas website and did not see any ethanol free stations listed in the Laconia area, does not mean there is not any there. Does anyone know in the Gilford, Laconia, Meredith Area?

I have read in the past that all Irving gas stations sell it, is this true? and which fuel on the pump would it be.

The place in Ossipee is closed, cones at the pump and all of their racks from the store are in the parking lot.

I drive for a living and have not seen any places in the lakes Region that sell it.

The only place I know is in Enfield NH

Most stations that I stopped at while snowmobiling in far northern nh sold ethanol free 91 octane.

Did some checking the Sunoco on Union has 93 octane but it’s ethanol and the Irving on Union does not have ethanol free

Next stop is Emerson aviation

I know it is a fairly long haul from Laconia Meredith area, but Shawnees in Wentworth has it, and so does Apple Knockers in Warren

I don't believe it does. I am looking at a bottle as I type this, and there is no date on it anywhere. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I don't think it does. I have never had a bottle around long enough for it to go bad, but I know, how old was it when I bought it... I fill my sled(s) up with ethanol free all the time up north. Most of the places up north that have it are small independent gas stations, not your big name companies. I fill up at Irving's all the time with my work truck, and have never seen ethanol free at any Irving's. Don't understand why it's plentiful in one part of the state, and scarce in other parts... Makes no sense.

I believe I read somewhere that once opened, you have a year to use it. Pretty sure Marine Stabil is the same.

I stand corrected...just read online the shelf life is indefinite on Star Tron in its original unopened container...

I have said many times on this forum that I believe in, and have been using Star Tron for many, many years, and will continue to do so. However, that being said, I am now going to use K100 once or twice a year in everything I own because it burns water better than any other fuel stabilizer, IMHO, including StarTron. There is a video on YouTube comparing StarTron and K100, and the K100 burns water better. Unless there is some sort of "fancy" editing of the video going on, (which I seriously doubt), K100 burns water awesome, so I am going to use it periodically, just to burn any water that may have emerged, but continue to use StarTron regularly for the cleaning, and preserving aspect . Ethanol, (and water!!) be damned!! Just my .02

i do know that Star-tron does not have a shelf life when opened, but what about if sitting in a tank for say over winter to 6 months, will it breakdown like the ethanol and gas?

I think I read somewhere that Star-Trina is good for “up to” 2 years. Probably in optimal conditions. I’m betting that even in suboptimal conditions it should be good for “up to 6 months”

has anyone ever used the sta-bil 360 marine for this, im just liking the delivery method (the bottle to measure) only going in a 6 gallon tank and i do not mind over dosing, but it just seems easier if im doing 6 gallons every week or so

I have been using Stabil Marine for years now in all my toys and anything with a gas motor. I have had zero issues. Besides stabilizing ethanol laced fuels, what I like about Stabil is the additive it has for lubrication at startup. As you know ethanol / alcohol in gas removes critical lubrication from cylinder walls, stabil 360 marine offers a specific additive to help offset this.

I have used the Sta-bil 360 Marine, like Ishoot308, in all my small engines plus my now sold boat when winterizing it. The gas for the generator, lawnmower, snowblower, weed wacker, leaf blower, and chain saw sit around for varying periods of time, and never a problem with engines running rough, not starting, etc.. During the boating season, I bought all my gas at West Alton, which has premixed Valvtec.

Having read here, and online reports, I am convinced there is no shelf life- new or opened then tightly re-closed.

My container has been in my garage for two years. From all reports, it should be stored in a cool, dry place, and not be subject to freezing.

So... looks like I'll be buying another.

Oh, yes- reports also claim it will rejuvenate old gas. I would guess that means, maybe, 2-3 month old gas- not real old gas.

As of Feb 2022, the 603 Fuel station in Moultonborough (just west of M'boro Neck Rd) has ethanol free gas as one of the selections at the main pump. It ain't cheap, but in the long run may be due to lower maintenance costs on older motors.

I purchased some of the "real" gas there in the fall. If I recall correctly it was $3.99/ gal vs about $ 3.00 for 10% ethanol gas. Well worth the investment to protect my various small engines against the crap gas that we are forced to purchase from most stations.

If it goes unused for a while the auto with fuel injection can handle it.

Some of our small motors are decades old and seem to only need basic maintenance.

I haven't noticed that.
I know ethanol will dissolve varnish... but all I have noted is the ethanol absorbs and surrounds water vapor... so after a while it absorbs so much it gets ''stale''. The engine then either doesn't want to turn over or stutters and runs rough.

I believe the ethanol creates varnish and gums the carb up. That’s why the carbs off small outboards are put in a bath over nite to try to dissolve the varnish.

Ethanol is a solvent; so it is actually used to breakdown varnish.

Ethanol is used as a cheap way to raise octane and to sell pigs corn. E85/E90/E100 is a useful race fuel (cheap and high octane), but has some major drawbacks (low stoich, more fuel consumption, short storage life, hard starts).

E10/E15 attains it’s octane from a lower base octane fuel, which isn’t necessarily a problem, until you’re dealing with a vented fuel system: Now it’s a water sponge.
Put straight gas in a jar (lid open) and do the same with E10/E15. You’ll see water forming atop the E blend within hours.

Ethanol is an oxygenate, which can be useful for making power, but there are a few companies substituting Isobutenol for Ethanol: All of the benefits of Ethanol, minus the water absorption.

Gulf Marine 100 is an example. It’s not cheap!

Good thing I purchased my one single gallon of $4.09 pure gasoline for the snowblower/lawnmower/weed wacker last Sunday, at 603-Fuel, because it probably cost $5.09 by today, just one week later. The price for gasoline has shot way up in the last week.

J-1, jet aviation fuel which I suspect is ethanol free, must have seen a big price increase, too?

RBOB ''raw blend'' has ethanol as one of the possible additives.
So the non-ethanol, which doesn't included the added price of ethanol, is more likely about transport and storage.

I also invest in and watch everything from oil/natural gas drillers all the way down the supply chain. Investing in the S&P500 does that for you.

The price will keep going up until the demand drops. Same thing happened in 2008, price kept going up all summer... and people kept buying.

I think we are in the same cycle... we never learned from the last cycle.
We were in it even prior to the war...

But that would still be crude... and RBOB... but not ethanol. Ethanol is not mixed with the blend in the pipeline, it comes in separately.

Wow 399.9 is a little high don’t you think? . Do you expect people to stay home and cancel vacations and not use boats pwc’s ect just to reduce summer demand ? I think not.

I don't expect them to. They didn't in 2008.

When I was talking to people in 2008... they knew that I and others were heavily investing in all aspects of the oil industry from drilling to gas stations/etc.

They told me that to handle the cost, rather than not consume, they withdrew retirement funds, delayed paying their mortgage, delayed paying taxes, cancelled insurance... lots of things, but never stopped consuming.

As an investor... I am expecting that same behavior pattern.

We're seeing huge jumps in construction materials and labor... haven't seen a slowdown their either.

Most cars and small suv's have a gas tank capacity of about 12-gallons/$48, while full size pickup trucks have a gas tank capacity of about 25-gallons/$100 with a $4/gal price, today on March 7, 2022.

One hundred dollars to fill up the tank on your F-150 ....... ouchy-ouch-ouch-ouch! ...... how high will it go? ...... does anybody even know? ..... helloooo gasoline price, pay-at-the-pump price hike shock.

Diesel ..... for big trucks ..... what's the latest price for diesel in New Hampshire ..... yikes?

In the 70s, when OPEC shocked the world, demand was inelastic in the short term--people had to keep buying gas. But demand was very elastic in the longer term as efficiency measures kicked in.

Impossible to know how long this price jump will last, but the real solution to being at the whim of Russia, OPEC, etc to to get off of fossil fuels in ways that are relatively easy. Insulation, solar panels, electric cars--for many people, these are easy to do and give a great financial return

We are still inelastic in the short term. It is a mental/emotional addiction.

For instance, insulation. I have yet to have a customer that asks about the energy efficiency of a window or door. I haven't had one of those in nearly a year. Windows and doors are holes in R21 wall systems at best; when placed wrong they can even cause overheating in the summer months requiring more AC usage.

Electric vehicles? They aren't even bothering to purchase higher fuel mileage vehicles.

Solar panels? They aren't even bothering to cut electric usage.

If history repeats... this will go until it collapses all at once... we don't seem to learn from history, even recent history.

So it seems but as always going green has its costs. Solar panels for example seem like a great idea but things change quickly when you look into the finite life span they have and the disposal of the hazardous waste within them.

Here in Idaho ethanol free gas is available everywhere, pull into just about any gas station and look for the blue nozzle. Some offer both regular and super.

After several months now of using it exclusively both my truck and car are getting about 3-4 MPG better fuel efficiency never mind run way better.

Don't know why here and also in Utah it is widely available.

I think he is focusing on independence more than ''green''.

NH imports all its fossil and nuclear fuels from someplace else.
It has served us well... but we do feel the shocks.

Part of that is while our electric grid has many different generation sources... some more dominate than others... that only works on electric elements.
Most of our vehicles and space heating isn't electric based.

The ethanol free sign has been removed at pier 19 this weekend. Maybe they had that for snowmobiles ?

Ethanol gets added at the depot.
It is one of a dozen of various additives available to be blended based on proprietary licensing.

Refiners in North America are at maximum safety guidelines according to their industry experts... so if they were to gear up to make more jet fuel, it would mean less gasoline.

The US lost an estimated one million barrels per day of refining capacity in 2019/2020, so pretty much any distillate price is higher than it was prior to 2019.
