The first day of spring occurs when there is 12-hours of daylight and 12-hours of darkness in a 24-hour calendar day. This supposedly occurred, yesterday, Sunday March 20 at 11:33-am, so here's to spring time, 2022! ....
![]() You know the big rain that fell on Saturday night, March 19 would have been a snow storm back 40-years ago in 1982 as winter used to last right up till about March 25-March 31.

We've had snow storms later.
The first day of spring is a marker for those starting seedlings. But historically, we use Memorial Day as the marker to transplant or plant directly into the ground. It helps avoid a spring frost that could harm the seedlings. Obviously, any storm with below freezing temperature could result in snow. |
