Hello.... We are planning to expand our cottage by increasing the size of our kitchen, bathroom and master bedroom. In addition we want to add a metal roof. We are looking for a contractor that has a barge that would be able to transport material to Chases Island Tuftonboro.

Would appreciate any recommendations for a contractor that could help us out. As far as the metal roof their are contactors out there that specialize in metal roofs. Please share your experiences with these contractors as well. Thank you. |

![]() You can't go wrong with Mike at WIS (below). We used Forever Metal Roofs to do ours and provided transportation. The material can travel on a decent sized pontoon. Shep Browns has a large pontoon barge in their rental program. All you have to do is drive the boat, the roof company does all the work. Last edited by codeman671; 04-08-2022 at 01:00 PM. |

			Hi Chasedawg,

Winnipesaukee Island Services is doing quite a few metal roofs this summer on the islands and can show you some of our work if you're interested. We'd be happy to quote the roof and renovations but we're scheduling into the fall time frame for new jobs. Please let us know if we can help. https://www.winnipesaukeeislands.com/

If you are stripping the roof entirely right down to the sheathing consider adding some foamboard insulation under the new metal roof. All that you need to do is use 2x4s laid flat in landscape orientation and spaced two feet apart and then place 2' x 8' x1.5" foam boards in between. Relatively inexpensive and easy to do and it makes a BIG difference in both insulation and sound. It will also tie the rafters together and should make for a stronger roof with very little additional weight gain.
