Forum Fest is a casual gathering of the various people who post on this site. This is it's third year and each year gets better and better. In order to become a part of the great event, you simply have to show up and slap on a name tag. How easy is that! I'm sure Pepper will insist that you attend since you have such a connection to the lake and good causes as well. We talk, eat and have a good time putting faces to screen names. Then there is the raffle . . . always for a good cause. Speaking of which . . . how about some more raffle items!! We need more stuff to raffle off. Anybody got some good stuff??

Default Put Me Down For "2"

Had the pleasure of spending some time at Waldo Peppers on Saturday and spoke to Pepper about the forum. I asked her what I should bring and her suggestion was paper goods... so please put me down for the paperplates - napkins - silverware I will watch for the final total of attendees...

PS - the BLT was great..

Default Bummer

Well I wish I could say I was comming to Forum Fest III but unfortunatly I am not going to make it. After over 3 months straight of going to the lake every weekend my mind and body are telling me that after next weeks trip to the lake for the Race in Loudon, that it is time for a Rest.....

Oh well what can you do...oh yes I know....think about and look forward to Forum Fest IV next year.....

Well even though I can't make I hope the rest of you have fun and good weather.......

Default Check is in the Mail

Pepper,

My check for the Forum Feast raffle is in the mail to you. We wish we could be with you for this gathering but living in New York is too far to drive for a weekend. Hope you have good weather.

It was great to finally meet you while we were on vacation last month. I understand my mom, aunts and cousins came back to see you after we left and everyone loved the food and company. Thanks for everything. My nephew is looking forward to coming back next year and of course one of the first things he told my sister upon his return to Arizona was that someone thought he looked 25.

If you would like to keep some money out for shipping, because I'm planning to win the raffle, feel free to do so.

Mary

Mary - It was absolutely wonderful to meet you, and your terrific family! I truly look forward to seeing all of you again next year ... by then Stephen will surely look 30!

Now, a bit of information regarding the raffle! Each item being raffled will have a special container for tickets - thereby allowing folks to place their tickets on the items they wish to win. There's an effort underway to create a special place to view all the items in one place, so that folks here can click and view all the items. Bear with us.

So, please be certain to let me know exactly which items you want your tickets to be placed on, so that you have the best chance of winning the items you want. If necessary, send me an email once you've had a chance to view everything, and let me know that way.

Give a round of hugs to everyone for me, and send one off to Stephen too, wouldya?

Talking Secret Surprise Item

Should I fess up to my secret surprise item for the on-line bidders? Or should we keep it for the attendee's only?

I think it's only fair that we allow everyone who buys tickets to have an opportunity to know all the items up for raffle. Therefore, I am hereby divulging what my contribution is ... Two copies of the Destination Winnipesaukee DVD.

Talking I Crack Myself Up!

My surprise raffle item is a decorative bottle of genuine Lake Winnipesaukee water!
It will come complete with a certificate of authenticity.

I do have misgivings on how well this item would ship. The bottle has a glass stopper, which I plan to glue on and hopefully shrink-wrapping, but will it be shippable?

Wow, RG, would that mean it is the "Official Water of Forum Fest III" complete with sand from Weirs Beach? It could work like a snow globe: during the dead of winter, you could swirl it and think of a summer afternoon at the beach! Certainly a very unique item and sure to raise many $$$$$$ for a most worthy cause. It could become the first in a series and a real collectible! Excellent!

Is it water from the Rattle Snake Island area or will it be Weirs Beach water? If it is from Weirs put a drop on Clorox in please to kill the bacteria.

I wish I could be there!

Default raffle donations

I'm not sure if we'll be able to be up at the lake during the weekend of the forum fest but i will donate two items to the raffle. Such great causes the raffles have been for.

The first item I will put up is a softcover edition of Three Centuries on Winnipesaukee by Paul H. Blaisdell. Now there is a disclaimer on this book. I didn't do it but I picked this up at a yard sale a few years back. It is missing a photo on pages 55 and 69 and written information on the back sides of those photos pages 56 and 70. I do have the hard cover book and what I will do is scan the missing pages from that book and print them out. Thus you will have the missing pages in the softcover book, just not attached to the binding. Hope that's feasible for all.

My other item is a Pet disaster kit that I put together and sell in my free time. This will be for the basic kit. All you have to do is add bottled water and some pet food, a collar or harness and leash. It includes a backpack, pet brush, several sizes of plastic bags and ziplocks, manual canopener, flashlight, 5 in 1 whistle combo, 2 foldable pet food/water containers, pet neckerchief that can double for a bandage or collar, pen, pencil, perm marker, either a rope toy for dog or mouse for cat (winner will have to specify for which pet), notebook that contains liners to keep photos and paperwork for your pets and important telephone numbers, door decal, wallet cards and the booklet Saving the whole family disaster preparedness for pets put out by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Pepper, I can hold these items at home if I can't make it and I'll ship them out to the winners if that's okay. I know I need to send you a check asap for my raffle tix. Thanks for everyone's hard work on this. Fun time for all of us even if we can't make it up that weekend.

Lin - your raffle items sound great! Wow, there's a lot of stuff in that pet kit! Awesome idea for pet owners. Up here where we have frequent power outages, and "100-year-storms" like last October, you never know when you might have to evacuate your home in a hurry, and what a great idea to have all the important things your pet would need in a handy backpack ready to go!

Pineedles - old doesn't necessarily mean unattractive or uninteresting. I can think of LOTS of old things that are treasures to me ... like my husband for instance! Seriously though, I'll bet you'll find something really cool to raffle off.

Default Buy Raffle Tickets Now! (yes you!)

For the hundreds of you who will be unable to attend this year's ForumFest... please buy raffle tickets for the generous donations to this year's raffle. Click on the link
to see what has been donated... You can choose which items you would like to win. Directions of how to do this are at the end of this post.

This year's raffle will go into Pepper's jar for the benefit of St. Baldrick's.. in memory of her sister.

If I missed your donation, please post a note on this thread and make sure you include a picture.

Come on now.... let's finish of the jar $3k needed!!!!! You need to send in a day or two to get there in time.

From Pepper:
Here's what folks wishing to "pre-buy" raffle tickets will need to do:

1.) Drop off your request along with a check payable to St. Baldricks's Foundation. This can be done any time Waldo's is open. I'll instruct my staff in the event I don't happen to be there.

2.) If unable to drop off your request in person, it can be mailed to Waldo Peppers at P.O. Box 5273, Weirs Beach, NH 03237. If requests are mailed I respectfully request that they be mailed no later than one week prior to FFIII, so that I have time to receive and record them! (Getting to our P.O. Box can be a real challenge, as the Weirs Beach Post Office has extremely short hours each day - most of which fall during my busiest parts of the day. That's why I'm asking for so much advance time. )

3.) Please be certain to provide the following information along with your request:

A.) Your forum Screen name
B.) E-mail address so that I may contact you with your ticket numbers, and advise you if you've won anything at the raffle.
C.) Information regarding how you wish to "claim" your prize (eg. shipping, direct pick-up, etc.)
D.) Correct shipping address in the event your prize needs to be shipped
E.) Telephone number in the event I am not able to contact you via email for any reason.

I'm trying to make sure I cover all possible bases here, but if anybody sees anything that I've missed, PLEASE post here with your insights!!!!!!!

Thumbs up Raffle Site

Nice job on the getting the raffle items all in one spot IG! Thank you!

I think you forgot McDude’s "Remember When...A Collection of Old Photographs of Wolfeboro, NH - A Bicentennial Project of the Wolfeboro Chamber of Commerce- Edited by Kathy O'Meara - Copyright 1976.

Also, are the framed prints being raffled by sets, two of yours and six of Sunset Bob’s? Perhaps the sunsets should go as pairs? And should they be dated and signed?

Is the Waldo Pepper certificates going together or singles? A person may want all their tickets in one cup only, increasing their odds on it.

A big thank you for all the donors of the raffle items!

Certainly a very unique item and sure to raise many $$$$$$ for a most worthy cause. It could become the first in a series and a real collectible! Excellent!
I like how you think Quilt Lady! (And how you sew!)
Unfortunately we didn’t make it back to The Weirs to collect water and sand. I’m sorry.
Perhaps I could collect and put another together and auction it on E-bay? Would that be worthwhile?
(McDude, can you list it for me if we go that route? I don’t want people to know who I am on E-bay! )

This bottle will be water, sand and pebbles from The Broads side of Rattlesnake Island. Rest assured, if we do a bottle to raffle from Weirs Beach for Forumfest III, you bet we’ll kill the bacteria!

Sorry you cannot attend this gathering gtxrider. Maybe next year.

Default Answers to some of RG's questions ...

Just to clarify, per RG's questions:

1.) The Gift Certificates will be offered as two separate items, so there's more than one chance to win one.

2.) I believe it is SunsetBob's intention to have his photos raffled in pairs of two, so there would be three separate opportunities to win.

Also, there are two copies of the "Destination Winnipesaukee DVD, and they will be offered as individual items, so there will be two opportunities to win one of those, also.

And one more item of business - I have, thus far received two requests for "pre-buy" on the raffle tickets. Both requests were made in person. I will advise right away when I receive any requests sent by mail. Folks - if you wish to get a request in by mail, PLEASE do so no later than today!!!!! We're down to the wire here, and I really don't want anyone to miss out if they want tickets.

And finally, a HUGE thank you to IslandGirl for her fabulous job putting together all the items in one easy-to-view location! Awesome job!!!

Default And a raffle gift..

I am having this picture enlarged to nearly 11x17, and mounted on black foam board, which will give a frame effect to it.

I took the picture coming out of Sally's Gut, and the lighting was just great.

I was thinking separate so 6 people will get 1. In pairs will work too.Whatever anyone thinks best.3 pairs would have to be a sunset and a sailboat 3 times like they are displayed in the link.

Default Forum Fest III!!!

It was so nice meeting so many of you today at LSP -- and congratulations to Pepper, who is almost at the magic number for St. Baldrick's!!!!

For those who were unable to attend, I have to say that it was very nice to meet so many great people. Next year is another year and we hope to have even more of us there.

The raffle was a lot of fun --- items included beautiful photos by Island and Sunset; DVDs from Pepper and Carguy; a beautiful quilt by QuiltLady; and much, much more. A special thanks to MeenMac for the great pumpkin filled with spirits (I believe you were the donors) -- I am toasting you as I write this. ;-)

For the first hour or so, the weather was very cloudy, very muggy and about 76. Then the front moved through (thank you, Steve A. for planning ahead and keeping us all dry!) -- currently it's sunny, dry and 68.

I hope you all enjoyed the cam -- there was a whole half of the room that it didn't catch, so there were more folks there than the cam was able to scan.

Again, thank you to all who made this possible -- I look forward to Forum Fest IV!!!!

Default Wow.....

A really special gathering by a really great group of people for a really special cause and a really good time was had by all......so the question that begs answering is, "When is Forum Fest IV????"

Special thanks to everyone that made this such a wonderful gathering and handled all the planning and logistics.

Next time will be bigger than this one....csuhockey3....wish you'd been there..your Mom was a really nice stand-in. (By the way...I need someone to guide me to a big bass on the lake and Mom says you know where they are....maybe next year).

The photos and live webcast were no doubt appreciated by those who could not attend....we even heard about one person who said they didn't want to attend....are they crazy? There's always next time...next year.

Default Wow. Where do I begin?

Wow. Where do I begin? So many of you to thank, so much emotion, so many new friends. Just so much!

First, an announcement of the total raised through ForumFest III: $1,335.00! Unbelievable. You people are so generous, words could never adequately express how grateful I am for the support of so many wonderful people. Note to Webmaster Don: We need an emoticon for hugs!

Next I just want all who couldn't make it today to know how much fun was had by all who attended! So many new friendships were made today! PLUS, we all had the priveledge to congregate in the Pavillion at Lake Shore Park, a place which holds special meaning to so many on this forum. For this we all owe a debt of gratitude to SteveA for making these arrangements, and ensuring not only a dry location for us to be, but providing a place that was so enjoyable! Steve, I know you're not big on hugging, but I'm sending you a GREAT BIG CYBER HUG anyway!

LakeDad - that's LakeGirl's father On behalf of everyone who attended today's event, a HUGE THANK YOU for allowing us to make use of your wonderful facility, and for having faith in us to respect the rules of the park, and care for your property. Your generousity is so very appreciated by so many!!!!!!! There is no emoticon which could adequately express our thanks to you and the Lake Shore Park Association.

I also want to thank Quilt Lady, DRH and Island Sib for all their administrative help today! Your assistance in properly dispensing all the pre-bought raffle tickets into their proper baskets, selling tickets today, and keeping record of all the winners was an enormous help! No way would I have ever been able to keep track of everything by myself, and I'm so grateful for your help!

Mac - the male half of Mee-n-Mac - A huge thank you to you as well, for making the raffle drawing so much more fun. Your hilarious sense of humor made it so much more fun for everyone!

Now on to the winner's list!

Spindle Point photo by Upthesaukee --- Pepper
Teddy Bear from Upthesaukee --- Mee
$25 Gift Cert for Hand-Made Pet Products from Deb's Joy (Mrs. Misty Blue) --- Rattlesnake Guy

2 "Lake Winnipesaukee" by Bruce Heald from Webmaster --- Upthesaukee & Carguy

2 Destination Winnipesaukee DVD's from Pepper --- Joann721 & KPW
2 $25 Gift Cert to Waldos from rrr --- Deb's Joy & Island Girl

But when all was said and done, the biggest winner was St. Baldrick's Foundation! With the help of all you wonderful people, they'll be able to help more children in their battle with cancer!

And in closing I wish to extend my most sincere thanks to our Webmaster, for providing the venue which has brought us all together, which has allowed so many wonderful friendships to develop. Here again, there is no adequate emoticon!

I'll be making arrangements to get prizes to the winners who were not present this afternoon. I'll send emails directly to each when shipments go out, so that each will know when to expect packages!

Thumbs up Late report on FF3

Well now I have to say I don't know how we're ever going to top (or match even) this year's FF. Luckily we had SteveA's generous offer to save us wussie-men from the downpours this afternoon. Merci beaucoup. Misty Blue managed to find us despite our best efforts, and manned the grill to perfection. Amazing he still has both eyebrows and most of his facial hair left ! (Note to self: next year bring working electric lighter) We had more food and goodies than even FLL could polish off and I'm thinking that if we continue to do this mebbe we should have 10k road race to work off the calories. Hmmm, did I say 10 k, I meant 1.0k ... errr, anyone for 0.1k ? (Decimal places, almost as confusing as apostrophes)

I'm told we went "live into cyberspace" and yet the building looked like it made in the late 1800's so I'm a tad . With the webcasting and big screen TV, I have to ask if live chat/IM'ing will be the next big FF thing ? I guess this leaves Mt Major out (waaaay out) as the next FF meeting place. As Pepper previously posted the raffle went well with many fine items going to happy homes. Nary a shot was fired, nor knife unsheathed, over the quilt drawing, a welcome change from last year. I'm still uncertain how the USMC "drafted" me (not "Mee" but me .... that is to say ... aahhh nevahmind) to assist in the whole raffle thing but having been called to duty, and unable to run away due to too much food (see above) and a general case of lethargy mixed with unrelenting feet of lead, I did my best to call out the winning ticket numbers to whomever paid me the most ! (Crap, did I just type that in public ?) Well, errr, OK but to those who won, remember that "check is in the mail" stuff isn't going to wash with "Mee". Oh yes, be afraid, be very afraid !

So now it's time to contemplate the next Winni Forum event and yes I am referring to WinterFest I wherein Winni Forum Flyers will demolish them thar ABCCC boys in the manly sport of crib racing. Yes, I can see it now. All they'll see are "derrieres*" and elbows, elbows and ... what ... about 10:20 dear ... past time for my meds ? .... OK be right there ... where was I ... and ... well something fast and ahead of them !

*That'd be fancy wussie-boy French speak for butts. Now in Nawlins, a city with a strong French background, they'd use a different term. Kinda odd, that.

Default Great time -- Great Cause -- Great friends

Nice time for Jane & I. Lots of nice conversation. Meeting with some older friends, met some new friends, even met someone from "a prior life" (thanks for the tow, Misty Blue!!!! ).

Pepper, we are so proud of you for what you are doing in Mary's memory, and so glad you are so close to your $10k goal. It shall happen!!!!

Steve A and Lakeshore Park Assn. --- Thank you for your hospitality, kindness, and generosity. The pavillion is beautiful, and it's use was appreciated.

Those who couldn't make it -- hope you saw the webcast. Hope you can make it next year.

Finally but not least...Thanks once again, Webmaster Don. Without you providing this media for us to meet on line, we would not have gotten together in person. Sorry you couldn't join us, hopefully next year, and thanks again for all you do.

Great day and thanks to all for making Jane & I feel so welcome.

Dave

Default At a loss for words...

I won the quilt? And McDude's book? I keep re-reading Pepper's message - can that be right? I am absolutely blown away! I have only won a raffle prize once before. At the first forum fest I won the photos that Rattlesnake Gal donated! And this year I wasn't even there! I'm liking these forum fest raffles! Can we have another one?

I'm so excited!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Yep! Yessiree! Youbetcha!!! You won the quilt and McDude's book!!!!

I have both in a box and ready to go! Shall I ship, or will you be in the area anytime soon? Next few days I'll be running around like a chicken with my head cut off (yeah, yeah, what else is new?) so it may take me a day or two to get it to the shippers'. You let me know what method is best for you!

Default SteveA's Chili

The chili that SteveA served at FFIII was delicious. I ususlly don't eat chili because I don't like the beans, but I sure liked his chili. I think it was the best chili that I ever ate, bar none.

which reminds me....I have the left-over name tags from last year! I'll bring them along! I have no clue what to bring for a raffle item. Maybe like a cool T-shirt or Sweatshirt from the winni.com store. ????? Do we need more tables?

is the running of the crazy people over to the web-cam event still scheduled to take place? How about a secret showing of the all-powerful, yet still unused, forum bed racer?

Well, McD, the Forum's "Bed Racer" is pretty much in cold storage at this time. I don't even have all the racer's parts right now, as some other Forum members were helping "spruce them up", but when the race was cancelled all urgency to complete the racer's preparations evaporated.

I think at this point it might be best to hold the "unveiling" of the supercharged Forum racer until the actual race itself ... next February! (All the various pieces will be assembled then!! )

Waterbaby - thanks for fixing the count to indicate SteveA in the affirmative! I've been straight-out for a couple of days, and missed that post, so thanks for your administrative assistance!

LockesIslander - I'm heartbroken to hear that you won't be joining us this year, but thrilled to know that you'll be spending time with your buddies at the reunion!!!

McDude - I'm not sure how many tables Mac is bringing, but we'll be bringing one. Not sure how many we need, but an extra couldn't hurt! Also, are you attending solo? I just want to know if we should remove the "?" beside your name!

DRH - keep the super-racer in hiding! We don't want to give any competitors a chance to gaze in wonder!

We can bring 1, 2 or 3 so I'll plan on 2 for now and we'll take it from there. We're scratching our heads on a raffle item as well but I have an idea to run past "Mee".

RE: the Super-Bed - I agree. Them ABCCC boys are pretty crafty, wouldn't want to give away any of our secrets to them !

Default Another raffle item!

This just in! Island Girl will be bringing a truly unique offering for our FFIII raffle. We all know that she's a fabulous photographer, but did you know she does framing, too? Well, she does, and she'll be bringing a pair of 8x10 prints, in frames that she has hand painted. The photos are companion photos, one of which can be viewed below ...

One word ... WOW!

....ah...finally thought of a raffle item that may be of interest. A book entitled "Remember When...A Collection of Old Photographs of Wolfeboro, NH - A Bicentennial Project of the Wolfeboro Chamber of Commerce- Edited by Kathy O'Meara - Copyright 1976. My copy of this book has most of the pages pulled out of it so I could scan them for photopost. This copy, however, is in perfect condition. The binding isn't even broken. 196 pages with at least one photo (usually two!) per page. A real gem!

here are some links to a few of the photos contained within from photopost.
