can you believe this? "BRING HOME A PERMANENT PIECE OF THAT SPECIAL VACATION OR GETAWAY AT THE LAKE. AUTHENTIC WATER FROM LAKE WINNIPESAUKEE. YOU SPECIFY THE SECTION OF THE LAKE IT COMES FROM. CHOOSE FROM: WEIRS BEACH, ALTON BAY, WOLFEBORO BAY, 19 MILE BAY, MEREDITH BAY OR CENTER HARBOR. SHIPPED TO YOU IN AN ATTRACTIVE BOTTLE. DISPLAY A PIECE OF THE "BIG LAKE". NEVER BE FAR FROM THOSE SUMMER MEMORIES!"

Shouldn't they specify it as not for drinking?

Ships from Concord, NH. so they don't even live here apparently. Tell you guys what, for $1.99 I'll take a picture out my window of the lake and send it to you.

Now we can't blame the damn operator for letting to much water out and making the water level so low. People are actually bottleing it up and selling it........oh well, one way to get rid of duck itch.

Bottling lake water makes me sad for not easily explained reasons. Too personal to sell? Too cheeky, from people who don't live 'round these parts? Callous? Hmm.

I can remember a guy on eBay getting $250 for an old LL Bean flannel shirt. His claims were that he never failed to **** when he was wearing his "Lucky Flannel Shirt" but he was getting married and the future wife ordered him to dispose of the shirt. He wanted to pass his good fortune on to another person so he was selling it....as opposed to donating it to Good Will. Have also seen stuff like a potato chip shaped like Lincoln's silouette, a sandwich scrap off the plate of a movie star at a restaurant, someone was even selling pieces of the Old Man in the Mountain when it fell a few years ago. I think the next time I go out on the lake I'll take a couple of gallon jugs, a shovel and a sand pail. Not to mention what I could find snorkling at the Witches. WOW!! I may be able to afford a new boat in the spring. Watch for my upcoming ads on eBay!!! hahaha!

I'm so glad I saw this posting, it reminds me of the need to change the air in my tires. Each Fall I remove the Summer air and its extra humidity and replace it with Fall air which is less humid. One year I forgot to do this and the clink-clink-clink of the frozen bits of humidity rattling around in the tires drove me nuts all Winter long. Once again, thanks for reminding me.

Okay, I'm a geek.
While in college, I had a glass bottle filled with Lake water in my room. It kinda filled a void that all these web cams do now.

I am continually amazed by ebay. I do use ebay quite a bit and am in the process of liquidating some coins from my late father.
A few years back I put my old running shoes on ebay. I did not think that they would do much, but the alternative was to toss them. They sold for $80 and the buyer sent me a personal thank you note. One man's trash is truly another's treasure. ![]() Jetskier ![]() |

I sold a bunch of my old toys (circa 1950s and 60s) including a 1958 Barbie doll that were stored in my folks attic. I made over 2K.
I wonder how much someone would pay for a bottle of Duck Itch? ![]() |

An eBayer named jp75023 was the auction winner and paid $7.50 for something in a bottle.

Not all of us are able to be at the lake as often as we would like. Living in Texas it's hard to get to the lake every weekend. Yes I purchased the bottled lake water as a Christmas gift to my 9 year old nephew who lives in Fort Worth Texas and loves the lake. He has one corner of his room devoted to memorabilia of the lake and I knew this would be one of his most favorite presents. Hope this doesn't sound too harsh, however, everyone has their reason for purchasing items.

Sounds OK to me.
As a Christmas present, however, it needs to go to the freezer on Christmas Eve! ![]()

Thanks Pepper and Rattlesnake Gal for your kind words. I know my nephew will be excited when he opens his present. He won't know if it really came from the lake or a faucet - he'll think it's lake water and will be thrilled.
