Constant spoofing with Consolidated Communications email
Anyone else having this problem? Spoofing is of Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Amazon, etc etc. It's happening about 10 times a day.

Yup, I don't use consolidated, but I have an aol account (formerly verizon) and a gmail account. The spam filters catch a lot of it, but a fair amount gets through.
I just learned about a feature in gmail where you can add a + and a descriptor to your email address when filling out forms, the email will still come to your gmail account, but the descriptor let's you know who sold your address. You do it like this: say my email address is ITD@gmail.com. If I'm setting up and account at Sears, I would enter my email address as ITD+sears@gmail.com. The downside is that you need to remember that you used this later if you need to recover a password. |

Spam filters
Depending on what email platform you are using, turn on security features such as spam filters. Goes a long way.

I have spam filters, of course. One of the spoofs yesterday was pornographic. That may have cause Consolidated Communications to crack down, because today there were no spoofs for the first time in a long time. Or maybe these guys don't operate on Sunday.
