Last week during the warm day, I know someone in Strong Maine 13 taps, 10 gallons of sap.
2+ feet of snow in the woods there.

I'm a small backyard producer and yes this year I'm a few weeks early. Once February rolls around I watch the weather and early Feb the weather looked perfect for sap flow. I tapped and it's been flowing well. 3 boils later and we have 9 gallons syrup from 35 taps. We typically make between 12 and 15 gallons so we should be in the ballpark this year. Boil on!

2023 Maple Season is underway
Earliest boil in our 25 years making syrup

He makes a lot of syrup- around a thousand gallons a year.. I think last year he made 1300+.

Wow! At roughly forty gallons of sap to a gallon of syrup that’s a lot of sap!

It sure is. I am amazed at his operation. He has a Facebook page if you want to check out all the statistics. He does show the amount of sap.
