Went to Castle in the Clouds the other day and noticed that the trout pond is down more than 6'
Only about half of the former water surface. Thinking it must be a deliberate drawer down since we've had so much rain but wondering of those huge trout are happy |

Were there even any trout in there? They've not had big/feedable fish in there for at least half a dozen of our visits.

Big washout happened there, one of the trails was destroyed. I believe the pond was lowered until they can fix it to prevent further damage. The trail is probably history.

I found this information regarding the pond's water level on their Facebook page. They also talk in depth about the fish, wildlife and trails. An excellent read.
https://www.facebook.com/Castleinthe...rf3JoESj3BMJDl "We have implemented a controlled breach of the dam, to allow the overall level of the pond to drop. We are adjusting the primary spillway to hold the pond at this lower level while we work with an engineering firm to design a new permanent primary spillway. Once the design is approved, funded, and installed, the pond will return to the normal level to which we are all accustomed. This may take a year or more, so the pond will remain at the new lower level until that time." |

Last weekend, I was told by an employee at the gift shop that the dam is fixed, and they’re waiting for Mother Nature to refill the pond. Could take a few months.o

The dam is not fixed. The plans to fix it are sitting with the State awaiting an approval.
