White Christmas is a must in our house.
Now here are the deep cuts: A little unconventional, but based on a true story set during WWI: Joyeux Noel (2016). Another lesser-known classic as well that we like is It Happened on 5th Avenue And an underappreciated hidden gem is one I just have always loved since childhood is One Magic Christmas (1985, Disney+). It is not an upper, but it is poignant, well-acted, and simply an unconventional and beautiful Christmas classic in my opinion. Another forgotten one that is funny and unique is A Child's Christmas in Wales (1987) And yet another one we love that is hard to find except for on YouTube, Stubby Pringle's Christmas (1978) is touching and quiet and stars Beau Bridges. Try some of these for something new and thoughtful this season. |
