I'm thinking about getting into the hobby of fly tying/ streamer tying. Can anybody recommend a good starter kit? I have searched Amazon but don't know a good kit from a bad kit.

You may want to try either Orvis or Bass Pro Shops.

Also check Adult Education classes in local papers for information on classes. This is the time of year where you may find them being offered. Now, if I could only find where I put my fly-tying stuff. ![]() Dave

Two day fly fishing course held somewhere in beautiful Wolfeboro ...... www.nhoutdoorlearning.com/class-schedule/ ...... June 15-16th, or July 13-14th, price $215.

My wife gave me a kit from Bass Pro Shops a while back. It's the deluxe kit for 64.99 on their website. It has all the basic tools. I also recommend watching some of the fly tying videos on YouTube to see what's out there. Bass Pro also sells a feather selection with lots of materials. You can spend a lot on feathers you will never use, so if you are looking at tying streamers, it might be best to watch some related videos and just buy the materials you need for those flies. It takes a lot of practice to get good at it. Working on one pattern until you have it down might be the best way to start. Good luck and good fishing.

I just wish to point out that drinking and fly tying are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

In Conway is an Orvis dealer and has this Orvis kit which should meet your requirements.
