Default Minge Cove No Wake Marker

I live near the mouth of Minge Cove where it opens to the Lake. Over the last winter the no-wake marker moved substantially eastward, towards the shoreline, and inside the cove by several feet.

As a result, more boaters were ignoring the no wake rule, many, I think, becasue it was simply less visible, others, well, because they tend to ignore things shoved to the side.

On August 5th I emailed MP about moving the no-wake marker at the entrance to Minge Cove more to center and outward, and more to the outer portion of the mouth of the cove. On the 8th, two boats came out to inspect, and successfully move, the marker to an optimal positions.

The difference in boater behavior was immediate: folks slowed down earlier to wake speed, and there appear to be far fewer people outright ignoring the marker — perhaps because they can now better see it, and/or because they are reminded that this location is being monitored.

A big shout-out to the MP for taking care of this so very promptly, with immediate great results. This is a big deal for those that live close by, for shoreline protection, and safety of swimmers, paddle boarders, and small craft (mostly kids) that enjoy the cove.

Default well done

Thank you for reporting it. I live in the neighborhood, but not close enough to see. This year I have heard boats and jet skis blowing through the cove entrance in violation of no wake. Glad the MP was responsive and it has had good results.
