Default Handyman Carpenter needed

I need to find someone to remove my back storm door and replace the trim with Azek brick moulding and reinstall the storm. Not a big job but I have not had any luck finding anyone. Thanks for all replies. Meredith NH

Granite State Glass does windows and door replacements. Had them install multiple storm doors. Maybe?

Most people that I know will not give out the name of their handyman because the good ones usually have more work than they know what to do with and they don't want to risk losing them to a big project or whatnot. The other issue you will deal with is a good chunk of the contractors (of all types) won't call you back or will call you back when it's convenient for them. This topic has been discussed at length on this website and yes it's frustrating. My personal advice is that when you find a good one it's in your best interest to be as nice as you can be and pay the bill that day or whenever they send it to you.

I'm always willing to pay that day for work done the problem is as you say having them get back to me. Also a major problem I have is I can only communicate by text or email as I am disabled and don't speak so talking on the phone can be very difficult. I can speak in person using an electrolarynx. The irony to it all is I made my living for 42 years as a Condo manager and handyman.

Email...
cmorgan@lavalleys.com

Corey may be able to help.
Explain the situation in the email, and he may have a decent suggestion that can help.

We mostly work through email and texting, so it will not seem unusual to us.

You'll find that lot where people just don't respond to things. What annoys me is when your on someones website and they have a "contact us" option and you never even get a response from that. Really!! I refuse to believe the whole world is that straight out in my opinion a lot of it is people not bothering to monitor those things.

Possibly.
But we have a lot more people in the area, and customer efficiency has gone right down the drain.

So everything is taking a lot longer.

If a contractor can't handle the inflow, they should at least attempt to regulate expectations. A simple message stating: "We will respond to your inquiry however, due to current commitments, it could be several months before you will hear from us".

I'm not sure why this is so difficult for many contractors to grasp. For the minority groups that do, this is an opportunity to excel and develop a customer-focused brand that results in regular repeat and referral business. Providing amazing customer service is an easy way to stand out in the crowd.

The demand is so high, completely unnecessary.

I will go into emails tomorrow that will take me the full ten hours just to come close to completing, and get several that will try to "call in" to get it quickly.
There is no quick, and it is rude to presume that calling will jump you to the front of the line ahead of others that waited patiently.

Property maintenance has the same issue.
It requires an inspection, ordering parts, and then the repair.
But they also have to answer excessive questions on timing.
Some companies respond quickly, some drag.

Putting someone on a list several months out, that just wastes time contacting them to determine that they still need assistance.
Someone that has that time, has it for a reason - generally not a good one.

i agree, it's amazing how busy everybody is. The one thing I do say as mentioned above though, is that they should just leave a message saying they are too busy to take on any more customers for a while or something to that effect?

Because some of it is picking and choosing jobs.

People get good at one or two things and focus on those things, and sometimes customers want them to go outside of their comfort zone. Nothing ever good comes from that.

Shopping by price to do anything is out the window these days. If/when I find someone and think they will work out for the task at hand I just go with them. Sometimes knowingly over paying a bit, it's either that or never getting any work done.

Default Gus, The Stephens Handyman...

...Stephens Landscaping has a handyman....his name is Gus. Has done several small jobs for us the last couple years. You don't need to be a Stephens existing landscaping customer, but I suspect their existing customers are the priority. Anyway, might be worth a call...

They also have a great construction crew as well. They did a major deck renovation project for us last year.
