Default Metrocast email vis Breezeline Internet

I have had several metrocast.net email accounts for at least 15 years. I always knew, when Metrocast sold to Atlantic Broadband and eventually Breezeline that support for those accounts would end someday.

Since May until October 1, my mail clients (Outlook and Apple Mail) have asked for my password every time I try to read my mail (the password didn't "stick", as it should). Beginning on Wednesday, my mail clients fail to connect to mail.metrocast.net which has been the breezeline-supplied incoming (IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) mail server. Following the error trail reveals the security certificate expired on May 27, 2025.

Calling Breezeline is, as always, hopeless. I have spoken to a couple of people who have basically disavowed any knowledge of metrocast.net email addresses.

Changing hundreds of email correspondents is obviously a huge PITA. Are there any ex-metrocast customers here whose metrocast.net email is still working?

My PC Thunderbird app stopped receiving Metrocast email on 9/16 although I could use it to send email.
The Breezeline PC app Pronto still works and our iPad mail apps still work.

Also I used the Samsung email app on my Android phone to set up my Metrocast emal two days ago. All I had to enter was my email address and password.

My Metrocast email address still works. I don't use it anymore, but I have Breezeline auto-forward any email sent to that address to my current address. For some reason it takes those forwarded emails 1/2 hour or more to arrive, but they are all forwarded properly to my current address. Most emails still being sent to my old Metrocast address are spam at this point.

We got Metrocast when we moved here in 2014 and have not had any problems with our metrocast.com email address as the company evolved through ABB to Breezeline.

Having to change your email address with all of your contacts could be a daunting task, so this becomes a great customer retention tool for the company.

I find it hard to believe, with today's technology, that any even semi-competent isp would have the slightest problem allowing existing customers to keep their email address. But then . . .
