Default May 5: Water temp rises to 50-degrees

First time since late October, the Lake Winnipesaukee surface water temperature has gone above 50-degrees.

To swim the cold water, recommend a $60 O'Neill Thermo black t-shirt from Parafunalia in Gilford worn under a wet suit top. The tight fitting O'Neill Thermo gets soaking wet, long sleeve or short sleeve, but still holds in your core heat pretty good.

How does it work? I don't know, but it works.

Oct 10, 2025

In the last three days the Lake Winnipesaukee surface water temperature has fallen off a cliff, going down from 67 down to 62-degrees. Five degrees drop so fast is a big drop. The air temp right now in Laconia is a seasonally cold 30-degrees, and it supposedly got down to 28 earlier this morning. Just checked the North Conway Cam and it says 23-degrees at 7:11-am which is hard to believe. King Pine Cam in Madison says 28-degrees.

Could not locate a National Weather Service graph for Lake Winnipesaukee similar to their graph for Lake Champlain. Somewhere there must be a Lake Winnipesaukee water temp graph for 2025 that also shows water level?

Friday, Oct 17 and the lakes region has yet to see a hard frost. That one early morning on Oct 10 was just a very soft frost when the temp got down to 30 for a brief time at about 6-am and not for long enough to chill anything like water or plants.

The Laconia forecast ahead for the next five days shows no below-32 early morning dips.

44.5 is reported Laconia temp right now. Colebrook NH. 03576, over two hours drive north is 43 at 2:37-am and Colebrook is typically a cold spot on the map.

Monday morning, Oct 27: maybe early this morning was at 30-degrees for a couple hours in Meredith and vicinity which could be called an overnight frost.

So, what did it do to the outdoor decorative plants like Chrysanthemums ..... aka ...... mums?

I don't know?

Question Nov 7, overnight freeze

Friday, Nov 7, 2025, 4am: temperature reported in Laconia is 28-degrees right now and has been that temp for the last five hours.

So, Nov 7, overnight is the first real freeze of the fall/autumn season this year. Cold enough and long enough to make a bucket of water freeze on the surface, overnight.

Is November 7 late in the fall season for first overnight freeze or what? Yes, it is!

Nov 17, 2025: So, it is snowing pretty good or heavy here in Waterville Valley at 1800' elevation and the Winnipesaukee.com webcam link is showing that North Conway has no snow in the air and no snow on the ground.

Up on the ski area, Mt Tecumseh web cams, it's all blowing, all snowy white and no machine is outdoors grooming the snow or nothing.

Waterville Valley to North Conway in air miles is approximately 22 miles according to Google AI, which seems believable, so what's up with this snow here, no snow there, situation? Driving a car over the roads, it's 66-miles and one hour and thirty six minutes driving time going across the Kancamagus Hgwy which is why no one ever drives from Waterville Valley to North Conway. People drive to Plymouth, NH which 18 easy miles away. Both Plymouth and North Conway have their own totally huge Market Basket food store.

How's this happen? ........ ....... when will the government build that gold-plated Livermore two-way paved asphalt road from Waterville Valley, about seven miles north, to connect up with the Kancamagus, high up there, somewhere?
