My thoughts on higher mileage cars:

What is considered "high" mileage has changed a lot in my driving years. My P.O.S. '71 Camaro did nothing but break from 54k when I bought it to 76k when I sold it. Now some cars go 250k or even 350k.

When it comes to the 164k miles that our friend has mentioned above, I would categorize it into three possible categories.

Are all the miles mine? Sure, I'll drive it to Alaska.

Are all those miles from just one owner? I'll drive it to Florida.

Were there multiple owners with each one presumably caring a little less about the car? I'll avoid long road trips until I get the car sorted and it gains my trust.

The other factor is the car's manufacturer.

Toyota has a great reputation for longevity.

FLL, Good luck with your new-to-you car!

Hey, here's a fast talking Scotty Kilmer video on Scion cars ..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAsk2kx0Onc ...... that somehow showed up in my feed?

Do you think the video content of what he says matches the video title, "Here's Why You Can Buy a Scion for $1000."

Instead of naming Scion a Scion, Toyota would have been smarter to name it Lexus Jr. ....... or maybe 'Toyota Almost' and fuhgetabout the archaic 1930's word, Scion, which turned out to be a forgettable name for a car brand, even one made by Toyota.
