Buy Farm Island and protect it from development.
Then, with the leftover scratch, I could build a killer house and still have enough to get a helicopter to get on and off the island during winter. ![]()

Grant,
I can't help but wonder if we have a special interest given our love for Belknap. For quite some time I have wished I could get Farm and keep it just the way it is. If I win tonite... you can count on me getting it and preserving it. In addition... maybe a Chris Craft or two... |

First I would fix up the current camp on Winni, and buy a new boat or two...
Then I would look for a place in the Florida Keys for the winter, and of course another boat....(wouldn't want to trailer on back and forth).... Then with everything set for the beach bum lifestyle I would trade in my shoes and boots for flip floops......

That was my thought when I saw the title of the thread and then I found you beat me to it. I often drop anchor off of Farm Island in the summer. Great idea!! |

Pay off my house and my sister's house. By vacation property at the lake that will be used after I retire. I will continue working but have a whole new attitude toward it! Oh did I forget the boat and wave runners that would be housed in the boat house off the left wing?

A relatively small gesture, but one that I think would be well received by most would be to put the telephone wires unground in downtown Wolfeboro...

I honestly believe I would split some of it between my family and friends. Otherwise, my friends and family would treat me differently and that would not make me happy. I would use the rest of it to make a difference in this crazy world we live in.

I'd pay off my past due prop taxes and stop that 12% Meredith interest from accruing on a daily basis, and then I'd get the check engine light on my 199k miles, Ford pickup fixed right, instead of just covering it with black tape. After that, a real Sunbrella boat cover to replace my 8x10' poly tarp which actually works very good but probably lowers the neighorhood property values.

OK FOLKS, WHADDA YA THINK AW DESE
1. Pay some huge medical facility to figure out how why I can eat the claws of a lobster but can't tolerate (serious problem) the tail meat. AND FIND A CURE! 2. Throw a big party at Peppers for all forum members, once question # 1 has been answered. 3. Tell my business partners to kiss off and buy them out. Tell them I'm running the show now, then totally frustrate them by giving them the company back without any strings. (I love to blow people's minds) They need my lottery winnings, but I don't need their bureaucratic bullshot. 4. Create Eco/enviro area around MY property in CH/Mltnboro that is retractable and will allow snow and cold in when I want it, and closed when I don't. 5. Hire Don to allow me to surf the web and stay on-line without any concerns for viruses, scams, etc., etc. ![]() Oh, one more thing.......... Pay for a headstone to be situated on the bow of the MOUNT to signify that my ashes were scattered into the lake. ![]() ![]() |

On October 20 2005, Senator Judd Gregg (R) New Hampshire, hit on five out of six powerball numbers when he purchased four $5.00 powerball tickets at a Washington DC gas station and won $853,492.00. How much does the state of NH get? It received a big zero...absolutely nothing.
I know this is a bit of a stretch but on that same day I purchased a McChicken sandwich and paid the state of NH eight cents in the meals tax so doesn't that say that I am subsidizing Sen Gregg for his use of New Hampshire state services since he paid zero. |

...everything I've ever wanted since I was 2 years old.
Then I'd buy a house on the lake, the boat I've always wanted, pay off the mortages of every person I know, throw a kick-a@# party, and put the rest in the bank and watch the interest collect enough to pay for my great grandkids to goto Harvard for 12 years.

And, yes, you could say I'd have other interests in mind. Hate to see that developed. Perhaps a new project for the LRCT. I believe the owners offered it to Belknap first, but the price was a bit steep. g

Hi Guys & Gals!
Ok, IF I won, I would throw the best "Forum Fest 2007," Party the lake has ever seen! I'd keep the house on Winni I have, but a new boat is definitely needed. I'd set up trust funds for both my kids, and I'd share some with all my family, and friends. I'd take my wife on a long, and much needed Vacation to a tropical island. I'd keep working my company, just not as hard and not as long (hours) as I do now. HOWEVER, (if you read my post about BC..see post in Rattlesnake Island Girl needs help) I would NOT, donate one single cent to Boston College and the Flynn Fund! There is a summer camp, I went to, when I was a young kid, and didn't have a cent to my name that needs help, and I would give them the money to fix the camp up. (Camp Wing, now called Crossroads 4 Kids) in Duxbury MA. Check it out at www.crossroads4kids.org, if you go to Alumni, you will even SEE ME, you just have to figure out which one is ME! "The Eagle" |

Here's what I would do with that much moola:
-Pay the mortgages off for everyone in my family as well as those of select friends. -Pay off the college tuitions for everyone in the family. -Find that waterfront property that is posh but not overly ostentatious and have it open for family and friends whenever they wanted to come. -Buy all those water toys. (Don't forget the sleds for the winter!) -Don't forget the stable of choice cars in my 12 car garage. -Do some great things for the charities of my choice. Make a difference for some families truly in need. - And lastly, I would offer my 2 word notice...."I QUIT!" ![]()

I also would buy Farm Island. I would give a conservation easement to LRCT for people in canoes and kayaks to paddle to the island and walk on the trails I would build. I would also give an easement on the Belknap side to the camp. I would see if I could grandfather in the old boathouse which now sits on rocks on the island to return to its old position. Then I would rehab the house on the top of the island. I'd put new, safe electricity in it and give it a good cleaning and a water system of some sort (recycled water from the lake). Then I would invite four friends to come and each build a yurt or other environmentally sensitive/green friendly housing on the island. I would create a system of paths for walking to various viewpoints and one to the old cellar hole where I'd put benches modeled on the twig railing in the house and I'd instal hummingbird feeders by the benches. It would be my vision of paradise.
![]() PS: I used to dream of buying Castle in the Clouds if I ever won the lottery. |

Yes, I did go to the island with the realtor last summer and did go inside the house. It is typical of camps of the early 20th century. A sturdy house with small rooms. Living space on the bottom floor and bedrooms (actually the bedrooms are a nice size) on the top floor. When the island had no trees during the early 1900's as it was a grazing place for livestock the view from the house would have been stunning. On the bottom level is a small "living room" separated by some makeshift studwork (framing) to shore up the structure from the entry and dining room. As an aside the room had a projector screen for summer movie viewing tacked to the framing. Cute and very campy. The fireplace is quite nice but the staircase is what has enchanted me. The railings are made from small trunks of trees and is what I would consider true "folk art". The kitchen on the first floor has a pantry and a lightfixture made from a Maxwell House coffee can and a bulb-could I consider that camp folkart too? The house needs a new porch as a significant portion is rotten but a good cleaning would make it useable. My friends and I would truly love to buy this island and keep the shorefront undeveloped by a McMansion and accessible to others, if only the price was not so high. We are long time summer residents of the lake who already have homes on Melvin Bay with boat access and strong ties to Camp Belknap and the LRCT. Now, to win that lottery!

If I won the Powerball, I'd say good-by to my job in NYC, pack up the dog, the cat, and of course the husband, drive to NH and buy a piece of property with a couple of acres and never leave.

Depending on the amount.....
1. the obvious - pay off any debt by us and family 2. buy a certain family-owned resort in Gilford and make it OUR family-owned spot for family and close friends, including the launch ramp (my brother mentioned this dream last summer) 3. purchase some prime spots on the mainland and/or island property and set it up so said land can never be developed (a pipe dream, for sure -- but since this is a wish list....) 4. buy small log cabin out west near a ski area and a small place in the Carribean -- nothing over the top needed, just a nice little spot with a view and access to the local amenities 5. buy one of the Adirondack style BIG homes at the mouth of Minge Cove -- I have to do at least one thing BIG 6. buy a boat for the lake -- large enough to have a head and small kitchen, but nothing that stands out too much 7. bring our immediate family members on a cruise or vacation somewhere warm I'd keep my job for a while to keep my sanity. No new cars, no new Hummers, etc. It's nice to dream. ![]() |

The first thing I would do is go to work in my pajamas, robe and slippers put my feet up on the boss's desk and read the news paper.
The second thing is buy a nice house on the lake big enough for the whole family and retire. Then I would buy a BIG LOUD boat...not really but I would buy a new boat, jetskis for the boys, a Z06 Vette, a 63 Split Window Stingray with a fuelie. How much do I have left? |
