Wolfboro to Meredith...

Hello All,

Iam not boater but have a place in Meredith and friends in the Winni area with boats. I was curious about how long of a ride is it from Wolfboro to Meredith. I was thinking it was a good hour (not trying to break any speed records) am I close?

At a moderate cruising speed to enjoy the ride and see the sights, that is about right. On a weekend you'll likely have to come off plane due to the 150 ft rule, no wake areas, etc., and that will cause your average speed to come down.

I don't have my chart in front of me but I would guess that trip is about 17-18 miles.If you average 30mph,that's about 35 or so minutes.

I suppose it depends on the type of boat you have (mine is a 22 ft bowrider) and how well it handles chop but I find the biggest impact on my travel time, especially across the open areas of the lake, is the wave activity. If I push my speed above the low to mid 20's on a choppy day I really get pounded. On busy weekends the large numbers of boats can add significantly to the wave activity including adding cross chop that can be particularly annoying.

I don't make the Wolfeboro to Meredith run but going from Wolfeboro to Sandy Island usually takes me at least 15 to 20 minutes unless it's pretty calm. Since that is less than half way to Meredith I think, practically speaking, that it would generally take 45 minutes or more for the Wolfeboro to Meredith run on most days.

I think that you will find it 45-50 minutes anyway, depending on weather and traffic. I go from our place on Mark to downtown Meredith and it is a 20 minute ride at a comfortable cruising speed. Heading the other way to Wolfeboro it takes me 30 minutes (to downtown docks again at a comfortable cruise). Depending on where in Meredith and where in Wolfeboro can have a major effect. I am two minutes to Cattle Landing which is in Meredith, yet downtown Meredith is quite a distance.

Another reference path would be Mark to the Alton bay docks, it takes me a solid 30+ minutes at 50mph+ in a 32' foot.

We regularly go from Alton to our friends place in Meridith, near Sally's Gut. It's a 17 mi trip which is about what it would be from the Wolfeboro town docks. On a good day w/o traffic and no waves, it's 35 mins. Add in some waves and it's 45 mins.

You have friends?

35 minutes is about right on a good day and if there is no desire to hug the shoreline for sightseeing purposes.

Wow Jason, that is some fast boat, better not be posting those speeds here, the speed limit crowd is looking for ammo.

Yes, at mach 4.6 the sonic booms create a tidle wave effect on each side of the boat. I have been tagged a few times for creating waves too big and washing up on home owners shores.

One time I passed the MS Washington, and they decided to wave jump off my wake. Go figure.

If I duck my head and toss the family overboard I can get up to mach 4.8 on a good day with no wake in my path.
