Ideal dates for July 4th vacation??? any advice?

As long as you're not in a hurry to get home just hang out and wait for the masses to leave. You are on vacation after all, so make the most of it.

I agree with Gatto. We take the boat into Center Harbor every year and get front row seats. There is nothing better than to be that close during the finale. And afterwards, just be patient. In about 15-20 minutes the bay empties out and you can just cruise out without any traffic. It can be tricky getting out of Center Harbor at the beginning when you have 4-5 boats wide trying to get past those markers.
