Geocaching in the Lakes Region

We had a "situation" with the police in Bristol RI. We were at a cache site looking without success for the cache and a police car blocked our car from backing out of the area. He held us for about twenty minutes while he ran our licenses for warrants. He had never heard of geocaching and wouldn't let us go without checking us out. He said we weren't doing anything illegal, not trespassing but that we looked suspicious. Once we were cleared we explained the geocaching concept, gave him the website. He was excited about trying it himself. We never did find that particular cache, we will be back.
