George's Diner
Last weekend we had the prime rib dinner special at George's. Small and larger portion sizes offered from $12.95 to $16.95. It was quite tasty. The hot chocolate with a mile high portion of whipped cream was the best!

Love it
I go there often when in Meredith. Discovered them when I went to Town Docks and realized they'd been taken over by Common Man whom I favor NOT AT ALL. The Common Man style just doesn't work where the food was always fresh, home made and reasonably priced.
But that's for another forum Never had a bad meal at George's and they have the best Onion Rings - coating not too heavy, not too light, the onions are sweet - just yummy. Love their homestyle meals, fresh bread toast, and prices! Highly recommended. |

George's a Great Stop
George's Diner has always been dependable, reasonable and great food. Unfortunately, they are out of sight for newcomers to town to learn that location. You are certainly right that the Common Man Restaurants need a revolt to make them aware of their extremely high prices for basic food available at any other local restaurants including Hart's Turkey Farm which is always good food. We all know waterfront dining usually has a premium and convenience by boat has a premium, however there is a limit. Unfortunately, The Common Man has taken over Meredith and feels they are the only and only choice in town. I heard a recent story of a very poor and expensive meal served at their Plymouth location. No matter which you go, the cooks will determine the quality and outcome of your dining experience beyond price. Let's ask Harts to offer a shuttle service like the Canoe Restaurant in Center Harbor!

breakfast...
I boat to George's regularly on Friday's and Sunday's for breakfast. I'll wait in line under that awning for as long as it takes, before going ANYWHERE else for breakfast.
For anyone who has not been, be sure to check out seating on the screened-in patio if available. Service is perfect...PERFECT...every single time. |

Stop telling everyone how good George's is until after the 21st. My vacation will be over by then.
I love to boat up from Gilford and have breakfast while the family sleeps back at the condo. Nice boat ride and then a great breakfast. Yeah, baby! |

Had dinner at George's the other night. Good meal, all you can eat chicken was great. clam chowder was great. Lasagna was good. Strawberry shortcake was short on strawberries.
Our waitress was efficient but didn't smile. I brought this to her attention on my way out; that she should smile, that it would help her tips. She somewhat rudely said she doesn't smile. Period. I should have taken half the tip back. |

service
Captain...
Really surprised. Although I only go there for breakfast, I go very regularly, and I am always amazed at how pleasant the waitstaff is. Probably have been there 40/50 times, and not a single bad experience. Maybe it is different in the evenings. |

sa,
I've always liked George's. Great staff. This "one" waitress just had attitude. You know when you go out and you have a waitress that is "curt"? This was her. Like she was having a bad day. So when she told me "she doesn't smile!" I just said to myself, "she doesn't get it." I watched her at other tables, she comes across like she hates her job and/or she's having a bad day. I can have a lousy meal but if the waiter/waitress tried hard...........I'll still give them a good tip. I was in the service industry for a number of years and those of us that were in it are always the best tippers because "we've been there". |

I'd say Church Landings food is average although the dining room is nice. I'd actually rather pay a few bucks more and have food that knocks my socks off. Canoe is better food although the atmosphere there is certianly not as nice so I guess it's all in what you want. I don't see why people complain about the town docks it is what it is, sandwich and a beer with a good view much like the Naswa. |
