Also, this Sunday the 20th there is a breakfast buffet at the Mason's hall on rt.28 south just over the bridge. I think $7.00 ea, well worth it.

It's worth driving a few miles to West Alton to dine at The William Tell Inn.

Default Main Street Cafe

The MAIN STREET CAFE, in the same parking lot as Lakeside Variety, is also very popular and the price is right! Does Ye Old Bay Diner still deep fry their home fries? very weird.

Default Breakfast in Alton

I'll second the Main Street Cafe, especially if you like ginourmous omelettes.
The Dockside is a good choice too, although I haven't been there this summer for breakfast.

Main St Cafe is good. For lunch/dinner, I like J. P. China -- for Chinese food. Here's a link to resturants in the Alton area. Click on a name to get details, including menus.

We went to Pop's Sunday it was great. The serving was hugh and we took home enough for lunch the next day. The quality was excellent too! For a few years it was not good. Nice to eat on a picnic table across the street and watch the activity on the lake.

Default Pop's

Pop's did slip in the quality the past few years. I hate the 'cash only and use the ATM inside the dining room' bit. Most of the time the ATM is empty!

If the quality went up this year, I bet it is because of Johnson's up the road. They are excellent source of fried food.

But we did have to go to $8 for adults, but kept kids under 12 at $3.

Default Main Street Cafe, Alton

I haven't been there but got curious as WOKQ's Friday Buyer's Club had $50 certificates available for $25 and only 19 of the 100 available have been sold as of tonight (3/22, 9:16 PM). Found the above two reviews and it sounds like a wonderful place for breakfast, so I do believe I'm going to purchase one and check the place out!

Also, it seems from one of the posts one of our very own Forum members is the owner?

Log onto WOKQ, check out the Buyer's Club, and get one before the rush starts -- get a good deal and support the Lake economy by visiting!

We didn't see the "old bat" there yesterday morning. Maybe she had the day off!

Margie mentioned that someone called her an old bat on the Forum! I never dreamed it would have been you DRH! Now you have to fess up and tell her who you are here on the Forum!

DRH is only kidding folks, they are all wonderfully nice at the Olde Bat Diner! They are very generous too - donating a gift certificate and two loaves of homemade bread to our ForumFest raffle!

It was just a tongue-in-cheek retort to Lakepilot's inadvertent typo! Margie's definitely NOT an "old bat"!!
