Has the boardwalk at Weirs Beach been fixed? We stayed at Weirs last year right after the heavy rains that ruined the boardwalk. The train was still running, but it only could go one way, which I think was to Meredith. Unfortunately, we could not swim at the beach because it was shut down all week. I am hoping it is all ok when we go in August!

The board walk has NOT been fixed. The train runs both ways. The area of the wash out has been secured and the beach is open.

The city is going to exhaust all possible means of funding the project other than using city money... it might be awhile before the boardwalk is restored.

Thanks for the info about the boardwalk. Last year we arrived for vacation on August 9, just 2 days after the heavy rains. I thought for sure the boardwalk would be fixed after a year. Must be a funding issue. (???)

The stairs got washed out as well, so it's not just the boardwalk that has to be replaced. Those stairs were always sketchy from what I remember, so I'm sure a nice safe redesign of them is going to happen, and that won't be cheap.

IF they even replace them??? Anyone know if that is an option? Just thinking they might try to shave a few $$$$ from the project.

If they don't, all traffic (as it currently is) will be routed down the docks and around the corner towards the M/S Mount Washington, then up the big ramp.
That can get crowded when the big boats are loading/unloading. But, I never liked going down the other staircase, it felt like I was going to fall down the embankment into the lake. |
