Waldo Peppers on The Ride
I was flipping through the stations last night and came across one of the cable show's The Ride. I was going to keep flipping past til I caught site of the Weirs Beach marquis sign. So I stayed and watched it. Not sure how current the show is. It was my first time watching it. But the hosts were walking around Weirs checking out bikes. Then they did the tease for part two and it's going to show Waldo Pepper's. Way to go Pepper! I did some checking on the show and got the website at least.

It's a re-run
The show was filmed this past June during Bike Week. They approached us about two weeks prior and asked permission to film. It was quite a lot of fun, and I'm astounded by how many people have seen the episode and commented about it! I'm certainly not going to complain about all the free publicity they gave us!

Enjoyed the Lobster Roll
Had my first lobster roll at Waldo Peppers and it certainly lived up to its reputation (had the drawn butter version). It was great to meet Pepper and to enjoy lunch with some of my forum friends. Can't wait to try another great sandwich on my next trip to NH in February. The 5 hour drive from NJ was worth it!

Don't rush to Waldo Peppers during the off season
My family and I decided to try these world famous lobster rolls this past Sat Oct 23, 2004. We were informed that they only do the lobster rolls in the summer, so if your planning a trip to Waldo's you'll have to wait.

So what do you do after cleaning up after about 12-14 inches of snow. Go play some virtual golf at Funspot, of course. Felt like spring out, sunny, warm, but the real course would have needed snowshoes rather than golf shoes, and a snowmobile rather than a cart. But what to do after golf....and you're hungry...and know exactly what you want...and hope they have them...then you head to the World Famous Waldo Pepper's. Driving with fingers crossed, pulled in, and yes, the sign says "Lobster Rolls are back!!!!!!".
Wife and I went in and met Pepper for the first time...left feeling like we have known her for years...Thanks, Pepper. Had a nice visit, had some great onion rings, wife had the pulled pork barbeque (excellent) and YES FOLKS, eat your heart out, I had a lobster roll (the warmed with butter). It was all everyone has said it would be. Hurry back up GH and Glenn...ol' upthesaukee may just have to eat them all... thanks again Pepper...enjoyed the food and enjoyed the hospitality and conversation.

You really know how to make me feel worse being here in NJ. As a matter of fact, I just printed the Waldo Pepper menu from the website and my mother and I were reading it and drooling this aftenoon. Save me a lobster roll Pepper, May is coming!! |

We were there a couple Saturday's ago with a bunch of friends and we had a great time, and a great meal! Pepper was her usual warm, wonderful self and she made us all feel right at home. And the lobster rolls (both the "Traditional" and the "Hot Buttered" styles) were absolutely delicious.
Hey, upthesaukee, save some for the rest of us!!!

Looking foward to seeing you very soon, and I'm doing okay!
I lost a couple pounds over this winter, so when I come in, I will be very hungry and looking to enjoy some more of the very best Food in the Lakes Region! "What a Gem".
