Default Deer kill in Wolfeboro today

Saw a dead deer on the side of South Main Street today, just past the fire station. Strange to see a deer get hit at 11:30 in the morning on a busy road?
Traffic was starting to back up as I went buy. Hope it was a quick death and that they were able to donate it for food?

C'mon down to Pennsylvania. I think I saw four dead and six or eight alive on this morning's (typical) commute. Luckily, I've hit none this year.

10 times as many deer are killed on Pennsylvania roadways than what is killed in NH during hunting season!!

From PA citizensvoice.com... "In accidents between deer and motor vehicles, Pennsylvania led the nation with an estimated 102,165 crashes, State Farm Insurance found in a survey reported this month in Fortune magazine. The Pennsylvania Game Commission estimates that hunters killed 308,920 deer last year."

For years in the late 90's we traveled to Penn State from NH for Junior Olympic Volleyball events with our daughter. Sadly, the kids used to play "count the dead deer" all the way thru PA. Sometimes the numbers were 30-40 dead deer.

But here is a "good" deer story. Heartwarming.
