Has anyone else heard that Hannafords is expanding their Meredith location. I read that Rite-aid is moving out of the plaza into a new building going in across the street (assuming the planning board approves it!)
I'm just wondering exactly what Hannaford's has in mind. Their new Gilford store is great but if they are expanding all the way to Rite-Aid its going to be a MUCH bigger store. |

What they need is another Hannafords across the street. I hate trying to turn left out of there.

Will a bigger Hannaford's include a pharmacy? Seems likely if Rite Aid moves across the street to just up the hill above the huge Irving Gas.
The 14000 sq ft space between Olympia Sports and Rite Aid has been vacant since it was constructed and 'for rent' since Nov, 2008, so getting that empty spot filled with a bigger Hannaford's is good for the landlord. That was a better shopping place when it had the ParaFunalia and the Ben Franklin: ..........Hannaford's .......Shmannaford's!

Why not a MARKET BASKET! I shop at Hannafords but find it very expensive. I am not a fan of the Tilton Market Basket. However, I have recently started shopping at a new Super Market Basket near a home in MA and it has everything (cafe, etc) and the best prices I have seen. So I am no longer all that interested in what Hannafords does. I may shop at the Market Basket in MA on my way to the lake from now on when I am back and forth. However Hannafords seems to be the only game in town near Meredith Center. Would love to hear what year rounders do for supermarket shopping?

Agree with FLL. I miss the October Farm Market, Parafunalia and especially Wardos, (not to mention Trues down the corner). Also miss the Ben Franklin in Ashland. Spent many a pleasant hour wasting time in these establishments.

Market Basket will only build on land the company owns. They have no plans for the lakes region other than Tilton - at least at this time. They are less expensive and their products are top notch.

I agree. Market Basket has great prices. I will be in Tilton tomorrow so Market Basket will be one of my stops.

Myself I don't really care for them, their meats are not good and either is the produce.

I never cared for Market Basket until the new one in Burlington, MA. I have not tried a lot of their meats as I have been getting the cooked turkey breast which is delicious. Today I got some fresh wild caught salmon so hope to see how that is. I really like the Costco frozen wild Alaskan salmon but was feeling lazy today I guess. Will see how it is when I cook it. If you are judging by the older Market Baskets, I agree.........never cared for them and could not understand the rave reviews but this new one is wonderful. I also went to a great new Market Basket coming back from an eye glass appointment a few weeks ago and that was also wonderful. The prices really are a lot better for the same things? Weird. Also I read that the store brands were often made by the same people who make the name brand foods so I started buying the store brands and most really are the exact same? Wow. Getting older but wiser.
