Chase Point wreck

About 2 weeks ago I went to check out an object on side-scan I got late last year.

What I found in about 37 feet of water was a motorized wooden vessel about 50 feet long, large intact bow/keel rising 7 feet or so off the mud; Stern parts visible but much of it gone but it still stands maybe 6 feet high; Rudder (delicate!) in place with some sort of shaft off the right side that I guess was a prop shaft. Can't see the left side as she is listing to port.

Left side of vessel is gone but right side is mostly there. Large straight-6 engine and drive train in place with a mess of piping and of course heavily encrusted components.

I would like to know what boat this was but like most everything else there is simply no way to tell and likely never will be.

It's an interesting dive if you like wrecks. Shallow, easy, on the right of the channel past Barbers' Pole heading north towards the Graveyard Channel. About 350 feet south of FL#49 off Chase Point. Flag up because traffic can be heavy. You won't be in the main channel but on the edge and lots of boats cut between you and the mainland on your right.

Scan images attached are nothing to write home about but it was a tough wreck to get on side-scan because physically it is "thin". Water logged wood presented the usual challenges.

Found at 43 38.410N / 71 18.141W; Map Datum WGS84.

In many of your videos I see your marker buoy line at a strong angle. Are there strong currents at these sites or is there some other reason for it. Just curious. Thanks

I got my butt out of bed early this morning and dove this wreck. As usual the numbers provided by the OP put me right on top of the wreck, there is nothing like descending down a line and seeing a piece of history come into view. It's hard to believe this thing is here as I have drove over this spot hundreds of times over the thirty five years we've been here and never knew what was down there.
