Could be a Big Storm coming early next week.
Stay tuned, and prepare to batten down the hatches. |

Ever since it was named, I have been wondering if (Hurricane) Sandy would hit Sandy (Island) - and if it would do so when (daughter) Sandi was there. However, since we'll be heading off island on Sunday, we - at least - won't hit the trifecta.

Those of you who have already pulled up your docks for the season need to make sure you tied off both sides. Not so many winters ago we had a decent blow and it bent and destroyed a bunch of dock frames that weren't tied up to avoid wind induced lateral swings. Would be a rude surprise in the Spring.

As I see it oscillation at the natural frequency of the structure may be the biggest danger and the tie-offs will keep that from getting going. |
