I saw it on the news and thought the same thing. Then watching the video and seeing them video the eagle in flight then swooping down, and you never see the baby until they get over to it. I'm thinking staged using a dummy and the child was substituted in the end.

Other CGI hoaxes have videos to unravel the trickery involved: we should be shown one; otherwise, what we have here is only a few "personal-assertions".
At 0:45 in the video, you can see a tiny white dot that has launched itself from a branch in the background. Since birds of prey will sit for hours, that's a very tough moment to capture. Even if trickery is involved, this video recreates a moment that is an everyday happening in Nature and remains instructional... |

I took two frames of the Eagle showing its path after supposedly taking the mouse. Then I put Frame #2 on top of Frame #1 to show that in Frame #1 the Eagle is heading below the tree and then in Frame #2 the Eagle is in front of the tree. Also in Frame #1 you can see the back ground through the Eagle. There are many more movements then can be seen in slow motion that show the Eagle disappear and then show up in a different path. The human brain & eye can't pick up these Computer-generated imagery (CGI) deviations or departures from the normal or common order.
