Default Great Waters Music Festival - Scholarship Program

Great Waters Music Festival Announces Scholarship Program

WOLFEBORO, NEW HAMPSHIRE – The Great Waters Music Festival Board of Directors has announced that applications are now available for their 2005 scholarship program.

Taking place during the summer months, the Great Waters Music Festival presents and produces a summer series of outstanding concerts and educational activities designed to appeal to a wide variety of musical tastes. Entering its eleventh season, the Festival has distinguished itself by combining an idyllic setting with a diverse range of concerts resulting in rapid growth and popularity.

A scholarship fund has been established to help stimulate, promote, and support interest and education in the arts field by the Lakes Region community members. Awards may be used for summer, continuing education programs, undergraduate, or graduate work. The education committee particularly encourages participation in local and regional summer music programs such as the Heifetz program, the Summer Youth Music (SYMS) program at the University of New Hampshire, and its own summer choral program encompassing the Great Waters Festival Chorus, SummerSing, and Choral Workshops.

Last year scholarships were presented to six area residents seeking to continue their music education. They were: Jenny R. Cooper, 18, of Wolfeboro; Gregory Paul Parker Donovan, 15, of Tuftonboro; Alexandra JoAnn Petropoulos, 19, of New Durham; Laura Beth Olzerowicz, 18, of Wolfeboro; Nicolas Robichaud, 17, of Laconia; and Noah Adler, 17, of Wolfeboro.

Open to all ages, the scholarships will be awarded to area residents studying in the arts field. Interested parties may download an application from the Great Waters Music Festival website. Deadline for application submission is May 15, 2005. Awards will be announced in early June.
