One of those moments as a grandpa I'll always remember....
The little guy just turned 4 and like a good grampa I bought the boy a fishing rod and reel. He loves it! I cast it out into the cove and he gets to reel it back in. Fun time with worms and sunfish all day long. The first time I put a worm on the hook, the boy watched wide-eyed and was aghast. "Why do you have to do that to the worm, Grampa?", he asked. "Well that's how we catch fish", was of course my reply. After a brief period of stunned silence watching me thread the hook with fish-catching wormieness, the boy says "I don't think the worm wants to do that"! Now every time we fish he warns me that the worm won't want to do that again. Too cute! -Steve |

![]() ![]() I love those words. I think my grandson said the exact words to me 8 years ago. The next thing was grampy, come take the fish off of the hook NOW. ![]() ![]()

beyond his years.
For over the last 60 + years I have never thought about it that way. Now I know why they wiggle when being placed on the hook. They just really don't want to help catch you fish. Thanks for posting this informative topic. ToW |

When my kids were little we use to fish with worms and when the day was ending or we couldn't catch anymore fish we always had the ritual that any worms still on the hooks had earned their freedom and thus would be set free. Of course we set them free in the water
