Could not agree more. We are very fortunate. Nice photo including the flag and the Mount.

Took the boat out for a "quick" three hour ride today--was planning on calling it a season, but I think we're hoping for one more weekend! Was beautiful today.

Yes a very nice day on the lake. A number of sail and power boats out enjoying the day. A little color along our shoreline on Welch.

But if it is such a nice day to be on the lake?? How come you're on a hill over looking the lake you should be on?? Seems Bass Ackwards to me!! You should be on the lake taking a picture of the hill in its' fall colors.

But I'm glad you did it this way as the picture is very nice showing the lake.

Default Early morning sun

We took an early morning walk around Welch this morning, this view from the south side. It is shaping up to be another very nice day, plan to get the Harley out for a ride.

Default Mt Major traffic jams

On Sunday, Oct 12th I have never seen as many cars parked to go up Mt Major before. They were from the scenic view on one side, past the entrance and running at least a mile on both sides. The walk to get to the trail-head had to be longer than the trail itself. I have to believe there were some real traffic jams in the narrow sections of the trails.

On Monday, they were parked almost to the rock cliffs by the scenic view, and then close to a quarter mile to the west, both sides of the road. Shoulda set up a toll both at the trail head, a buck apiece.

I said the same thing going through Franconia Notch.Lafayette campground trailhead for Lonesome Lake had cars parked about 1/2 mile in both directions on the side of 93.Even the medians had cars parked. The trail had to be like Boston rush hour.

Default North bound traffic

I left for Conn. early Saturday morning to see the latest addition to the family, Hazel Jane, born 9/25. The North traffic was unbelievable! Bumper to bumper clear to Harford!

Heading South Saturday was a godsend. Likewise heading North Monday.

I believe NH tourism expected a record Columbus Day weekend.

I did the Franconia Ridge on Sunday (9-mile loop). I thought it was going to be a peaceful hike - boy was I wrong. All of Canada came down during their Thanksgiving Holiday weekend to hike! There were lines to get up the mountain!

This is not an easy hike, and the number of things I saw (preparation, clothing, etc.) was astonishing. So many rude people out there.

That explains the used kleenex we saw discarded along the trail when we did that loop yesterday, including the cigarette butt at the top of Little Haystack. Somehow I am amazed by the thought of a smoker hiking through clean air along that ridge.

Anyway, I'm glad Tuesday is our hiking day. While there were quite a few cars parked in the lot at the trailhead, we saw relatively few people along what is indeed a popular route. The ridge itself was in the clouds all day, but coming down the Old Bridle Path with the sun shining through the trees still showing a lot of color made me appreciate just how nice fall hiking is. And I couldn't resist capturing this picture of a tree at the bottom, practically on fire.
