Default Foam insulation

I'm looking for a Lakes Region contractor deeply knowledgeable and experienced in the installation of open cell and/or closed cell foam insulation in a residence. I'll be grateful for information about your experience with contractors in this field and your recommendations. Thanks!

Default closed cell foam

I just had a structure sprayed with closed cell foam by Foam Pros out of New Hampton. The contact is Frank Reed at 937-0000. Foam Pros did the job in a timely and professional manner. I did obtain several bids for the job and they were very competitive on price. Frank provides the quotes and does the work. With some of the insulation companies there is one guy to quote and make promises and a different guy to do the work. If you want more info on why we choose to spend the extra money for closed cell feel free to contact me directly as it would be easier to explain on the phone. Good luck.

We used Foam Pros for the island house and they did a great job. As MRD said Frank Reed came out to do the estimates (with a few different pricing options based on 'depth of foam'), and also was there throughout the work-day, and did the QC and punch-list.

The only issue was that we had the barge scheduled to bring over their foaming equipment trailer... and the Foam Pro truck had issues and they were 3 hours late getting to the barge landing, which cost me a few extra dollars...

I'd be happy to answer any other questions if you want to PM me directly -PIG

Understand the desire to go PM on this, but it sounds like something that might be of interest to many of us...

Default Bad experience

with Quality Insulation a few years ago. They did fix the problems reluctantly after a threat to take it to court.

I did see Foam Pros out of Belmont, but they never get back to me for a quote.

I'd be happy to answer any questions here too

Just to set context - the shell of our house was a panelized foam structure and Foam Pros came into do the rim joists, eaves, a few complex stick built components, and around the doors/windows. The three of them worked as a team and were very meticulous (I was on-site observing). It was 90 degrees out and I felt bad for the "foamer" who was in head-to-toe suit and respirator. Luckily he was a wirey little fellow who could squeeze into the eaves etc.

The price(s) were based on how thick the foam application was and square footage (plus I'm assuming some base rate). The trailer with all the gear was self contained with generator, and the hose was long enough to reach from the barge, all throughout the house.

All questions, comments, humor, etc welcomed! -PIG

One thing to keep in mind is the nhsaves program. Have PSNH (or your provider) do a Home Energy Audit and they may even pay for 50% of the cost to make your home more energy efficient.

I had them do one this past summer. Ended up having the attic spray foam sealed along with the rim joist in the basement. They added another 10" on blown insulation to the attic and eve vents. They close out with doing a second blower-door test to measure improvement.

Brian Gordon of B. A. Gordon Insulation out of Franklin has been highly recommended by several very knowledgeable construction people in the area. His cell is 63-393-7329. Supposedly does general batt insulation as well as closed foam.

not familiar with nhsaves but used their counterpart in Mass which is Massave for spray in insulation in the attic. Definitely a difference since they did it a few years ago. the savings was 75% a nice deal if your thinking about it (again in Mass.) got the interest free loan for a new boiler a few years back too huge saving in the gas bill. My gas bill has dropped by the amount of the loan every month so it's literally paying for itself. Not to mention the piece of mind changing out a 35 yr boiler which is really priceless.

We would highly recommend Brian Gordon for installation. His prices were great he works with you and treats you with respect. Our house before him was always cold after he came in our heating bill has gone down so low and house is always warm. It's nice to support local companies. He has a crew but he came in and did our house.

If you have any questions please feel free to pm me.
