Three years ago today, March 23, 2012, Ice-Out was declared. As of this morning, we're still making ice!!!

...and yesterday while eating dinner at the Lyons Den bar, I was watching trucks coming off the ice with reports of 20+" of ice still in the broads!
![]() Last year I ate my words thinking ice out would be very late when it wasn't. This year I am not going to say it but... ![]() Dan

Last year the ice was still very thick and a week of mild temps destroyed the ice very quickly, amazingly fast, as I remember.
I keep looking at Lily Pond and thinking it will be a very late ice out. I thought the same thing last year. Mother Nature seems to always average things out. The lake is still hasn't started to rise, but it will this week with milder temps. Water temp 32. |

It really doesn't matter how much snow and ice are out there. IF a warm spell sets in with some rain it will melt very quickly. Thursday is expected to be around 50 with half an inch of rain. That will dent it. But then it cools down a bit. Who knows what a couple weeks might bring. We have 4 weeks before normal ice out time. Too fast a melt would make quite a mess. I'm willing to be patient.

Ice was out May 5. I was skiing at Loon that morning. The boys were water skiing on the lake that afternoon!
